Wait... "the surface"? Are they underground? Weren't these walled cities, wouldn't the outside be more appropriate?

Or am I just misunderstanding the use of the word... english isn't my first language.

So many new questions, I just hope she's very friendly since she tried so hard to rescue lil girl.

How fascinating though, does this mean potentially the city is still intact?

Thanks for the tl!

mecha-loli arc now? I can roll with that.
I just hope it doesn't turn into an angsty Gundam story :dogkek:

Surface outside would be more appropiate, unless every city is evelated like shown on the screen and all cities are actually skyscrapers or something lol.

Edit: i meant outside

You're not supposed to ask little girls to do dangerous things, Mr. Robot.

The cities are basically bunkers where the living quarters/shelters are underground.
So in this context referring to "the Outside" as "the surface" is .....more or less convention in Sci-Fi.
Because "The Outside" can be many things, depending on the setting, but "the surface" makes it clear it's a ( usually supposedly hostile ) planetary surface.

hmmm... a reading recommendation for this trope would be Tanith Lee's "Don't Bite the Sun".
It's one of those SF novels that... would not stand a chance of being published nowadays, doubly so because it's supposed to be Young Adult.. for 1976....

Yeah, there is something extremelty fishy going on with the outside world and the government. This stinks worse than surströmming.
While some big twist like that would be cool, we have seen enough proof of an actual apocalypse that its highly unlikely. (The monsters and the space ship)
