Ok I know ya all not gonna like what I am gonna say but ...

They could have tried to make another human.
Probably impossible. First, we dont know if she can give birth to kids, maybe she was designed to have with other fellow of eternal children?. Second that guy is already too old and any desire to reporduce is probably gone after a long time of solitude

It sucks that his last moment was a feeling of "shame". But I guess I'm projecting here. His resolve was strong. And his mission was fulfilled. Even if we cant shake off regrets, fear, and shame, it's possible to move forward while holding onto those feelings. It might even be a must to have them, as thats exactly the definition of courage. To hold both destructive and constructive feelings, and still be able to exercise what you will. Thus courage brings freedom.

He was having survivor's guilt. He admitted that it was a selfish thing to do, but also understandable. Imagine the trauma to have experienced this and survived. All these years he has been burdened by this guilt. He has nothing to live for, and the only reason he is still alive is motivated by a single goal to provide a proper burial for his friends, colleagues, and the woman he loves.

Living for years digging out people's remains why staying sane is impressive enough, I don't know why people blame him for not going with her. I mean, she just gave him a harsh reality slap. That was the final nail in the coffin.

If I were him, after hearing all of that, I would kill myself too, given I managed to stay sane after witnessing the end of the civilization, and then years of digging corpse.

RIP Mr Tomine :meguuusad:
All lives must come to an end.
Having dug out the bodies and given his last museum tour; he must've seen his life as complete and time to join his colleagues:aquadrink:
