I think Kiri's friend (haven't seen her enough in the story to remember her name yet, sorry) isn't plotting anything "bad". I think what's going on is because he has 2 sisters, both of whom we know are the teasing types, he doesn't pick up on stuff like him eating food she already took a bite out of, AKA the indirect kiss trope.
