Vi-Scans is pretty much a dead group nowadays. Our website just expired and our IRC server went for a while ago as well. While a lot of us are still in touch with each other and some are even doing scanlations with other groups, VI is sadly a thing of the past.

Homage to the past

I was reading an old obscure manga adaptation of an equally obscure old MMORPG, Lime Odyssey, that I had read ages ago, and decided to give it another read.

One of the chapters had a header talking about the 7 year anniversary of Village Idiot Scanlations, and seeing that really took me back. I realized how many random memories I had that are associated with that logo.

Vi-Scans is pretty much a dead group nowadays. Our website just expired and our IRC server went for a while ago as well. While a lot of us are still in touch with each other and some are even doing scanlations with other groups, VI is sadly a thing of the past.

It's such a shame that all the behind the scenes stuff related to over 7 years of work is gone. Sometimes I wish there were some long format YouTube videos made about different old scanlation and fan subbing groups. I would definitely watch through hours of all the stories behind a lot of this work, but the websites, forums, and IRC channels where all of the discussions happened are likely lost to time, so I'm not sure if anything like that could even be made.
