I know it’s unlikely but I really wish she’d respond with something like
”What? But I’m always to blame. What is happening?!”
I wonder if maybe
The little brother confessed to framing her as a child? And it’s changed everyone’s view of her. Otherwise, I’m not sure how her being attacked would have possibly changed their treatment so much.

I think she is now useful to her father, that's all. The fact that someone belonging to the crown injured the daughter for no reason can return to the family itself. Whether he wants to harm the imperial family or wants to get some favor. Like he could ask for compensation that the prince marries his daughter so as to enter the imperial family (the other prince, who is probably worse than the one who hurt her, so I foresee this is the most probable scenario, because we are still in difficulty "never a joy")

I think it has more to do with the way her father and brothers reacted to her being hurt. The servants saw that they cared about what happened to her. That they really cared. And they probably realize that they would be punished pretty badly because she seems to have more power than before.

Somehow it's remind me when kids bully their classmate. And when the victim almost died, or live something dangerous (suicide, accidents,...) they start to regret it. I think that how it is for the father and brothers.

As for the brothers and the way they acted. While I DON'T accept the abuse, I understand their feeling a bit. I think that for them Penelope were just an outsider who were trying to steal their sister's place. I think that why they hated her so much. I also hated my stepmother when my dad remarried after divorcing with my mother. I said a lot of mean things to her when I was young. Since for me she was the reason of their split and she was trying to take away my mom place.

That why I understand how they must have felt quite well.

OMG! How did I not know about this gem??? This is great, the number of isekai webtoons that made me feel this emotional are very little... I am really fond of this one!
Thank you for translating this, really appreciate it <3

@Runadaemon The next chapter is going to explain the reason why being injured changed the way she is treated now, the father now holds her in high steam for now as she is now useful, the way she is useful will be explained there, in consequence the servitude will treat her better, as for the brothers, they don't like when some else hurts Penelope, as they feel they are the only ones entitled to that, it's like someone messes with their belongings.

Gosh this is so interesting. Really sucks the main character has to act subservient in order to survive an abusive household. I really feel this since I also had to be the same way or I'd be punished with physical retaliation and such when I was younger. People can say this is terrible she's just another pushover but this is a common characteristic of someone coming from a toxic family dynamic. She's not a complete pushover, I think she's strong for someone in her situation and she's thinking about her actions. The relationship with her actual brothers made me relive some shit. Anyway I guess this can be cathartic to read with the parallels going on in her life, her new life, and personally my life. I'm also snarky and explosive so honestly she would be handling this better than I would lol. I'd probs be dead in an early chapter already. Seeing her manage her situations competently is somewhat satisfying

this shit is super depressive, like up to chapter 18 at least. When I read the “drama” tag I didn't expect it to be like hardcore child abuse and torture, damn I'm kinda sad now

Either you hate it with a passion, or you love it because you're a M. Personally there's too much ass kissing for me, and even if the MC gets all of the targets to %100 they don't deserve an ounce of pity. Her own home is full of suffocating and abusive people, and my first impression of the prince is 'murder crazed bastard'. Even if the game mechanic of picking dialogue wasn't dropped pretty early on, this would still be an extremely depressing story to read.
