T/N: For the mysterious phone call, I used a font similar to the one L uses when communicating with the police via laptop (from the Death Note manga translation by Shueisha). Pretty cool, huh?

As a Hololive fan, the references really made me laugh, but I'm also nervous that they're going to do the "corpo bad" thing.

They've gone to a future where Confucianism had about as much impact on history as it could reasonably be expected to have. Better to stay, and lock that in. Also, we have better medical care for people his age, in the modern day.

On the other hand, maybe they're lucky that he hasn't been #cancelled yet by unwisely blurting out his thoughts on women or democracy.

Some would say that real life also does the "corpo bad" thing. Such as a certain fish?

Sad that the story seems to be ending, but this seems like a suitably interesting climax!

If there's nothing to learn, you made sure to share us what we can learn. Thank you so much for these extra Analects information and even some nice reference explaining!~

However, what concerns me is...
Let's be real, those "fans" aren't the ol' time "adorer" who'll hear a sermon (even from an ol' gramps, even).
If asked, I'm sure most of them don't understand or see him eye to eye, he doesn't even have a gachi fans.

The live show was meant to be an entertainment, not a sermon.
So either the corp will hire a body double, or they go 3D like Miku Hatsune.

Will it be the end, though?

Sudden hint to going back? Some big event with his purpose at the stake? Ahhh, it's time.

Well, MD does say this ends on chapter 25 tho idk if it's accurate

I'm not really into vtubers, i understand that companies would have funds and all that but considering they're just youtubers with 'anime' style avatars and such, other than a bunch of indie vtubers/friends making their own group together, as opposed to an entertainment company that has like a 'department' for it, i'm surprised ppl would sign up for it, if not the community not bothering to watch their content as some 'industry plant'

(tho , it would be hilarious messed up if a 'previously cancelled' youtuber just had a restart as a vtuber bc their voice was diff enough for ppl not to know)

When the vtuber phenomenon started, it's true that they were just youtubers with a virtual persona. Some of the original vtubers were actually invented personalities, not much different from Hatsune Miku. However, Hololive then came in and revolutionized the genre. What Hololive did in the beginning was recruit a specific kind of vtuber and help them monetize. Specifically, they picked vtubers who could actually sing and could do anime voices IRL (instead of using voice changers). Later on, they started recruiting wannabe VAs, wannabe idols, and even retired idols and VAs, give them a platform (including the vtuber avatar and other technical support), and run them as semi-independent personalities. Yagoo (Holoboss) best explains it by saying that Hololive is an idol talent agency. Nowhere is this more obvious than in their singing collaborations, where they would have multiple vtubers stream together and sing songs idol-group style.

So, most companies that run vtubers today (those that aren't the vtuber's own company) run on the Hololive model. They pick talents who can do more than talk endlessly on a yt stream but also do high-level VA and idol work.

Nah, it's almost impossible for a 'previously cancelled' YouTuber to make it into a place like Hololive. At the moment, Hololive is the biggest VTuber company, and it's been said that it's a relatively decent place to work in. You have to pass a vibe check by the interviewers to make sure you're the right fit, and they have, thus far, avoided interpersonal drama between talents because, even if there are problems, the talents know how to handle it professionally.

As for why people would join Hololive or watch them, it gives the entertainer a platform and, for the community, it's a seal of quality that the VTubers they will be watching are entertaining. For the EN side of things, although they sing and dance, they're just like any other nerd that the audience came from so there rarely is a sense of dissonance between audience and talent.
