Honestly, it’s probably somewhat better to compare the job to a combination of sewer inspector and public lands manager.

We know Franz graduated from some sort of higher education. Garbage collectors in real life earn on average $16 per hour, and that’s the basic entry level pay with no real prior experience needed. Sewer inspectors make on average $60k per year in the U.S., which more reflects the pay we see here in the manga.
