Dunno man, feels like you're reading the passage in a specific way so you can get offended.
In a white supremacist context, white identity in large part rests upon a foundation of Superficial racial toleration and acceptance. Whites who position themselves as liberal often opt to protect what they perceive as their moral reputations, rather than recognize or change their participation in systems of inequity and domination.
I'm reading this as "liberal whites are often superficially 'racially tolerant' so they can feel good about themselves, but in reality still participate in discriminatory systems."
I don't see any assertion of these liberal whites being white supremacists in the slightest. "In a white supremacist context" does not mean "these people are white supremacists" as far as I can tell.

So people accused of racism are defensive and don't like it.
Yes, that's literally all that the quote asserts. You are somehow angry about it.

Yikes, hypocrisy at it's finest, no thanks. Good Bye.
So even your "average person" doesn't seem to be offended in the slightest. Why are you?

For the record I think the passage is nonsense. But I'm having a hard time seeing how it's offensive or even particularly abrasive.
Not to mention you had to intentionally read the passage in the first page. In this particular instance it wasn't exactly hard to avoid it.

Excellent translation. I appreciate translators who gives me little notes about what's being said. Please keep up the good work.

Show me a country that has a tax rate above 50% and isnt poverty stricken, and I will point out that those countries have the laxest regulations of industry on the planet.

Highest marginal income tax rate for Sweden, Finland, Japan, Denmark, Austria, Canada, Luxembourg, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Belgium are all above 50%. The UK, Russia, Italy, Australia, Iceland, and Czechia all have it set above 45%.

You can have whatever view of economics you want, but that statement is just demonstrably stupid unless you're thinking of some obscure definition of "tax rate" that my pea brain doesn't know about.

But at the same time if you're talking about something like "effective tax rate" you're still getting most of Europe. And almost the US, at 47%.

Why isn't there an explicit rule banning politics from scanlations and comments? This manga's translation/comments alone is enough to justify enforcement of a policy like that.

Anyway thanks for a good scanlation, hopefully people chill

@cubed @boag At least for Sweden I know the effective tax is even higher than that. Way back we had an income tax of roughly 30% and an employer's tax of a couple of percent which were both displayed on your paycheck since they were both direct taxation on your wages. Then the politicians got the great idea of making an income tax hike by removing the necessity of reporting the employer's tax on your paycheck and then massively increased it to where it's over 30% in a lot of principalities now, and seeing how intelligent the average voter is when it comes to putting 1 + 1 together the stealth hike was a great success.

So first your employer pays an income tax on your labor at 30% meaning you have 70% left, then you pay on average (depending on where you live) 30% on that amount meaning you have roughly 50% left. Then when you spend the money you have left there's a 25% consumption tax here giving you 37.5% left, more for some wares like gas which price is 70% tax (highest in the world I believe), alcohol and then you have to pay television taxes, car taxes and you name it. So all together I'd say that the average person working full-time in Sweden pays roughly 2/3 of his income in taxes, and the marginal tax being a little lower than that is most likely due to including retirees and people living on welfare in the statistics. There's no question about that the amount of taxes we pay are outrageously high, the question is about what we who are productive in the economy actually get back from that 2/3rds taxation.

I can't speak for all the other countries either but at least for Sweden Boag's assertion isn't inaccurate, since what I assume to be a large amount of lobbyism the large companies/industries pay little to no effective taxes while the smaller ones are bogged down by taxes and regulations, where as several foreign ministers of finance have pointed out that if Sweden was located in South America instead of Europe it would be hounded as a tax haven for American conglomerates. For instance I know that Volvo and Ikea in Sweden pays zero net tax, and I assume it's a similiar story for most companies that size.
Another weird mixture is how we have some of the highest income taxes in the world while having some of the lowest capital taxes in the world. As an example someone earning 10k$ a month pays roughly 50% of his salary in income tax in Sweden while someone who makes 10k$ a month in an investors' savings account pay roughly 5% if even that.

Lastly I'd like to point out that there are no capitalist countries today nor are there only any pure socialist ones, but the vast majority (if not all) of countries in the world are mixed economies. Even the most liberal economies like how the US and Hong Kong were in the past had some semblance of governance and taxation, while all the communist/socialist countries we've had throughout history have collapsed before they managed to reach a 100% socialized economy. So to say that this or that country is capitalist or socialist isn't very correct, it's all a matter of degrees and which direction you want to head towards.

@cubed
you are completely right, i should have been more specific with my wording.
income tax.
I still hold that the list of countries that you posted that have an income tax above 50%, have a higher GDP because they dont regulate their industries to the point were economic growth is stunted.

@Elbow
your post was very informative as well as insightful.

Thank you for translating this properly instead of trying to inject political praxis into soft-core hentai

Is there any chance you could just pick up this entire series? Even if your goal was just to a fire under their asses, your translation still reads way better and has nice notes. I know the mangadex community has some bullshit fear of multiple groups working on a single series, but fuck 'em, having more options has only ever been good for the readers. Worst case, the other guys get mad and quit, their memelations are worse anyway.

Ignoring koolios unnecessary political endpages. This translation is infinitely better because it has no memeshit going on. I understand you might have to make stuff up when they're saying chants and stuff, but making it "xD big chungus pickle rick lol" plus missing punctuation makes it unbearable to read. I hope koolio drops this and have this translator pick it up.

I didn't realize the other scanlation group was a bunch of pinkos so I'll be hoping you just pick this series up yourself @Varrel and boycotting until it either gets an official translation (which will never happen), some other group picks it up or I learn to read jap myself.

Down with the worker's cooperative! Down with communism!

Having read the next chapter, this one was critically mistranslated. The ancestor's wife is NOT his imouto; he wanted to marry his imouto but didn't want to break the law at that time, so he married someone else and had a child out of obligation.

@Tactless - That's not "mistranslation". If the author said the ancestor's wife was his sister and even goes into detail about how much the ancestor loved his little sister, but in the next chapter the author says it was someone else, that's not the TL'ers fault, lmao.

@Akemua Then what was the point of his demon familiar telling him to "cherish" his wife and child if she's his imouto and he married her anyway? Leaving the lines as is makes it look like a non-sequitur, considering how consistent the author was with all the other details up to this point.
