this judicial system is incredibly dogshit, how has no summoned hero reworked that?
also with fantasy a staple fiest question to ask with trials is always: is there some kind of (easily applicable) lie detecting magic? because somehow there always is and it is never used at any trials.

It's absurd to only ask questions to the defendant and not the plaintiff. In court, questions should be asked to both. Why weren't any questions asked to the plaintiff to confirm the truth of their report. What proof was even provided regarding the report that justifies even considering it?

Then there is the questioning itself which is poorly done. Why are the questions so complex? If you state the question that the defendant attempted to deceive and imprison the plaintiff's doll princess as a means of silencing them, a true or false answer doesn't tell you anything. What if it wasn't meant to silence them? What if he didn't deceive them? What if there was no doll princess involved? There are multiple parts of the question that could be true or false so each question should be simply and isolate each statement.

So yeah, it's dumb.

I hope no one supports a hero that objectively has no worth to their society aside from their immortality.

Agreed. It doesn’t make any sense. The entire judicial process is taking the word of one guy over like 20+ witnesses. And it’s based on who files the report first???? It’s the same incident where one party claims they were killed unjustly and the other claims to have killed in self-defense effectively, so why is it treated as separate cases?
I could almost accept that this is some kind of jab at the japanese judicial system, since they have their 99.9% conviction rate and all that. However the execution is horrific, abysmally horrific. Nonsensically horrific, now he's established otherworldly aspects to the setting but those make it even more ridiculous to not have much stronger guard rails to not have such an easily abusable system.
