Kind of liking the stories and ending not that bad....
Man, Part of Shoutarou early chapter monologue of been a better person to have better position job does hit me sometimes as family man....i can deny it is kind of true

This ending feels like the Metamorphosis ending... is Shiina dying from an overdose somewhere and this is the dream that she is seeing? An ok ending, but after that fucked up hotel sequence I expected something more...impactful.

I love the way it ended. Such a subdued and anti-climatic conclusion to everything. No one got a totally happy ending, but everyone is doing fine in the end. Even Shoutarou, as much as he's giving that "woe is me" energy, looks like he's in good health at least. Good on the ex-wife, daughter, and Reina ("Shiina" seems to be a pseudonym) for cutting him out of their lives; they look better for it.

That said, Shoutarou at the beginning of the manga had every right to feel the way he did. The thing is he should have communicated his feelings to his wife and daughter then. Their family unit might have remained together if he had. Maybe it's better for Reina that he didn't do the right thing, though. Hard to say she wouldn't have ended up worse off if she'd met more straight-forward customers.

Also, Reina fucking Kokoa's dad and having his kid is the most insane get-back there is. Goddamn.

In a way Reina could have ended worse if she hadn't met shoutarou maybe it's a blessing in disguise and she actually got a beautiful kid she loved and maybe shoutarou helps them atleast financially like he said in the previous chapters

The mom seems okay from what little bits we saw. Kinda sad that it took her daughter going to juvie and her family falling apart to decide to get fit and take care of herself (mentally and physically).

Kind of got a push from her ex who seeked for her, understanding she will die alone and miserable at this point, she got scared and got her shit together enough to slim down and finally have a non-granny haircut, etc. Then suddenly she felt like people (men included) once again got some interest in her, and decided than she is too good for her ex-husband. The only thing she doesn't understand is that she has maybe like 5, maximum 10 years before she becomes too old (and it's considering the fact that mangaka somehow made her at least 10 years younger than when she was still married) and people (men included) will once again lose interest in her. So instead of giving him a chance he worked hard for she decided to chase the "I want to feel special" feelings. Well, surprise, she'll end alone and miserable. Or her doormat ex-husband will pick her again for her to make him miserable later.

She didn't break shit. Once her daughter hits middle/high school is going to be the same batshit stuff again. As shown at the beginning Shiina is a millimeter away from breaking down and the moment her daughter forgets to give her headpats or enters her rebellious phase she's gonna snap.

Yes, as soon as this girl hits puberty, it's probably 90% chance she'll make her mother miserable (because we all know how "fun" teens can be to adults/parents, girls especially). But there is a chance she'll grow up a genuinely good girl and I want to believe they'll push through the tough times together and be happy.

Well, at least we know that the ex-wife is not 20 so even if she, like many japanese women, keeps the decent look for longer, no matter what she'll hit her wall very soon and her "I'm special and wonderful" journey will come to an end with a loud bang. And although we won't see how she ends up we could very much guess it.

Why do people hate the wife so much? The bully I get but the wife didn't do anything wrong I can remember besides getting overweight and being a bit worn out.

1) At the age of 30 she declares to her husband that "muh feelings are no more", "I deserve happiness", yada yada.
2) Thus forces him to do what any decent man is expected to do and give his all not to regret not making everything he could to save the family, thus they have a kid.
3) Neglects herself to the pitiful state where you cannot recognize the younger her in this woman anymore no matter how hard you compare
4) Neglects his husband except still leaving him his share of food (she still cooks for herself and their kid, so cooking for one more person doesn't really change much), just so basically he continues working and providing for them, like feeding a mule or something.
5) Disrespects her husband when their daughter who treats her dad like shit decides that she wants to study abroad. Of course they should try their best for their kid but they should be realistic about finances, and the wife should support her husband in this situation, and force at least some basic respect for the father into her daughter first, before discussing the matter.
6) Doesn't have sex with his husband for 10 years? See chapter 4 where they have sex after she saw her husband with a young good looking girl ("It's been about 10 years"), then forces that body of hers on him. At this point, they were no longer a couple for 10 years straight. Oh I wonder why he was miserable and succumbed/crumbled under the slightest lure/temptation.
7) Goes on a "girls trip" as a married woman, instead of putting some effort into her relationship with the husband.

6/10, She never received her venom, everyone love a bad people in the TV

6/10, nice, now she is a milf, and will live alone with cats next 50 years, the divorce was only her revenge

9/10, a good ending, but she receive a lot of despair by her coworker and the society by to being a young mother.
The second time skip in the sea, maybe 10 years late, was very wholesome, the best ending

MY problem, 3 woman followed her emotions, 2 take easy consequense (win card in the society), and one was a terrible life (victim) because the society is cruel, 1 man followed his emotions and fucked his life, being reasonable trying to unite them and help them

The one thing I find weird though, that although I'm rooting for Shiina and her daughter, no one really talks about her having her HUUUGE role in ruining the family of 3, she somehow got her redemption just because she became a decent grown up and a single mother, despite it all being in her best interests alone, thus cannot really count as atonement.

The end disappoints me while most of the chapters we know from Dad's perspective. He used to have a sweet child, who grew up frustrated without him knowing, and the relationship between him and his wife went stone cold, and from that point, he's more infatuated of the love he had when he and his first wife got married.

He's sexually frustrated, but we won't find any therapy or nor the stoic culture let us talk to one. Shiina has had her own problem, and this is more her ever positive ending of all of them, hope it works well. The irony of this manga is for all Dad's perspective we have all in the chapters, with the ending shows almost none of him. We only know he tries to reconcile but fails, and then nothing else. Is he going back to Shiina? Doubt that, but it seems his life hasn't gone worse too far yet.



However, the Wife "needed to" divorce from him just to get back to her pretty self because she had to support from herself instead of her husband is... I dunno, how to say it. In one way, she's always been in good term with her daughter before she went to Juvie. She's been complacent with her husband she took him for granted, and divorced him when things went awry. Basically, they both discarded him when he's not useful as a husband/father figure anymore. He's disposable at any aspect.



The husband is still wrong to make a move toward a minor, that's it. And not to mention, his sexual experience with Shiina was outright repugnant, powerless, and half-assed escapism of his own mind, especially when Shiina R-ed him, in front of his daughter, as a revenge to her. He didn't enjoy it one bit. Even in his sexual escapism, his mind is somewhere else, in chaos. Looking for something, running away from something, and never in a positive state. While in assuming power-dynamic, in the end, ironically, it's Shiina who was once in control, and for revenge. He never was. He tried in his unstable psyche, but it still ended up wrong to him.



Aside of that, all's are B-class cheap drama especially with the time skip, but it's obvious we don't see the daughter have the humiliation and the bully she's done to Shiina. We only see her being a celebrity. And the Mother gets back pretty again.

In short, the husband had a lousy-ass life when he had ungrateful bitch of a daughter and a ugly wife, making him unstable and low-morale, and when they divorced, the ex-wife become pretty again and the daughter became a celebrity out of from the juvie.

Whereas, we see husband's frustration for what, 16 chapters? We don't know if he's being stable or even happy. It feels frustrating.

I feel like this wraps up the story quite realistically, no matter who dies, who gets pregnant, who goes to jail, who loses everything, the earth will still keep spinning and life will go on, sure they might gossip and they might talk about you for a few months but in the end everyone is busy with their own lives a newer more disgusting story will come out and they'll forget, thats life.
There is no revenge, no retribution, no true good or innocents, and no "satisfying" ending, you're still alive the world won't stop for you, there are thousands of affairs going on everyday and even more underage pregnancies.

The characters in this story are selfish and that's real, the bitch ex-wife slimmed down and is suddenly too good for you, your underage affair partner finds someone that actually loves her and forgets all about you and you'll have the same ending as every other guy dead and unsatisfied. Get a hobby while you still can is all i can say
