I actually fucking hate how they're making Mai out to be a victim. Bitch, no. Renako is a victim, she said to stop multiple times but Mai wouldn't and she got what she deserved. Honest to god, Mai is almost irredeemable in my eyes. It will be a fucking miracle if the author can get me to like her again.

Actually this, lmao.
This was probably the worst fucking conversation ever. Not even remotely THINKING about the idea that the stupid forceful romance shtick was unacceptable and that maybe Mai should listen to boundaries for like, a second.
"It's cuz you're so half-hearted that you got sexually assaulted"

Cool lesson author.

If this wasn't a romcom it could be interesting. The idea of Renako being between a rock and a hard place between her loner trauma of losing a friend or having to deal with sexual assault from said friend.

Since it is a romcom it just comes off as gross and disrespectful of the content having the victim apologize for their own abuse.

I was waiting for a twist- that Satsuli was pissed at Mai for actual SA. I guess girls aren't free of the bro code either

I think there is a need to read this as drama and not as moral philosophy. Renako feeling guilt over hitting Mai is realistic, even when Mai deserved it. Mai’s delusionally supportive confidant blaming Mai’s victim for defending herself is also realistic, albeit aggravating.

Yeah this series has been fun trashy so far, but this chapter is almost impressively icky. It wasn't even a "both sides are at fault" argument for fucks sake, which would have been bad enough.

im enjoying the later chapters of this manga focusing on Ajisai so much i forgot just how awful this part was. yeah Mai is definitely the victim here after Renako didnt let Mai rape her. definitely feels like a reflection of the author's worldview which is scary.
