What the hell is this gibberish? @UDie2day, did you do the translation or is this some sort of weird op by the author to try and bum money from Westerners?

Edit: I had thought it was spam but the circle's own website has those same modified images.

I dont get them saying “please pay for manga your reading illegally off the internet by paying through us” like wth, I’ll buy the manga sure but if this is some translating person/group saying to pay through them then heellllll naw. I dont trust it. if this is a indie artist than sure. but im not sure I want to pay a group that tells me to pay straight up to them who they also illegally translated or distributed online. idk I didnt read it yet. I’ll edit this after I read it.(edit) So it is indie ok. so after some half assed lazy research I dont think the original artist put that there but I didnt research enough. and the website, im not sure it’s legit but ok. someone confirm if this site is legitly connected to the artist after my comment please.

"Please pay for manga you illegally read on the internet. You can pay the fee to us, the ones illegally translating it (poorly, with several pages of spam) on the internet. Fuck the artist."
Nice meme.

RE: https://ec.toranoana.jp/tora_r/ec/item/040030650548/ -> https://ec.toranoana.jp/ec/app/error/access_failed_error/

When did Toranoana start blocking access to US IPs?

@mommunism

Nah dude it's actually worse than that. The Japanese artists put that notification about how we owe them money up there.

I always wonder just how legal are these manga, which uses characters from someone else's works.. like, if using Disney characters to make a commercial film is illegal, then this should be "not legal" too, right?

The thing about "buy manga and read it legally" is laughable. I do buy some manga, but there's so many things I track that it would cost a fortune to buy them all. Not only that, translated works doesn't anywhere near always get an official scan, which makes it impossible to buy anything other than raws if there's no official, which is 100% pointless to buy if you can't read JP. In the first place, it's not like a mangaka gets piss poor income. Besides, there's a such thing as free manga, it's called a web comic (for example, Yoshka Space Program). Manga reader sites wouldn't exist if people cared enough to take any of them down.
