I guessed it wasn't her just by reading the description. Any mutilation where the body can't be identified in fiction almost definitely means body double of some sort.

I might be remembering a different manga and/or story, but I think it was something along the lines of the face being completely crushed in during the wagon accident due to the main carriage landing on it.

Which, even if this realm had the capacity for dental records, would remove the chance of that, much less identifying the deceased by face.

You are CORRECT Sir! Yeah the Maid as I'm guessing her POV is next was a nasty Piece of Work. If I remember she was a commoner (Merchant family) who was spoiled rotten and had delusions about Nobles and Royals! Her parents hoping to "cure her" convinced the Stepmom to hire her as a Maid and she was assigned to Rorona. Thing was she was lazy and useless, that Rorona just "did shit herself and said nothing!"

Remember when I said she was delusional when it came to Nobles. Yeah she looked DOWN on Rorona for her charity work and such (She was with her when she was doing these things) and felt she was "unworthy to marry the Prince" because of it having developed a crush on him during the few meetings the two would have. So after the "Annulment" Rorona just went to the Orphanage and she took her chance, wanting tonruin Rorona's Reputation beyond repair, do to having close to similar appearance, she dyed her hair, put on her clothes and went around the Captial doing everything that would ruin Rorona's Reputation....and then the Carrage accident happened and she died horribly!

As shown early, because she took advantage of the connection to the Countess to go hooky. Her disappance was noted, but not looked into. The Prince as in the one avenging Rorona takes advantage of this and finding out where Rorona actually is to get her to come with him once she is well. He lies to her about everyone's fate to convince her she wasn't needed as look at the situation. Her family is doomed, her reputation is damaged due to the POS Maid's antics. And the Debt! It's better she doesn't go back, hence the lie to her that no one missed her as she WOULD go back to try and save them. She's sadly so indoctrinated to saving the ingrates that she doesn't think about herself. I mean yeah the Orphanage is grateful, but that is why she was sick in the first place, hiding her identity meant they kept her on the grounds, which lead to this whole incident

And from the spoilers above. The white lie that Astel tells Rorona is the most acceptable white lie if I've ever seen! If it means the Yandere prince to take her away from the abuse she suffered with her ''family'' then please take her far, far away.

Spoiler: Fates of the Sister and Father at least

Last I checked Sister gets scared and ends up a Nun to escape the incoming debt. She is at that point VERY remorseful of how she treated her sister, the manga likely illustrating that she realizes just how much her big sister was SAVING the family all while she made life difficult for her like an ungrateful brat...and now she's gone and she realizes the truth. And of course she sees just how fucked her parents and the Prince later are. She truly believed Rorona was the cause to why she wasn't great or things were perfected, and realized like all ungrateful younger siblings when their older self sacrificing sibling is unavailable just how much they sacrificed for them! She at least has remorse

The father though he ends up in Prison. Yeah turns out "building a large amy and BUYING A WAR WEAPON THAT IS ILLEGAL TO OWN OUTSIDE OF WAR and well the Army should own NOT AN INDIVIDUAL, wasn't such a Bright Idea!" You know how Governments feel about "Heroes" especially "War Heroes" who don't learn to keep their heads down! It looks like he was preparing a COUP rather then his presumed "the war might restart!" (As you saw the man is an egotistical fool who gets off on people feeling SORRY for hi., Note how previously he was angry at Rorona for "bsing secretly evil" then the Sister for "making it public" with that Annulment nonsense!

It's cute she thought the Consolation Money would cancel out the Preparation money. To pay off a debt to the Kingdom...."pay them back with their own money!"

I was waiting for that bit at the end.
I mean, it's a fairly obvious twist, but I always wondered if anyone actually cared enough to even check the corpse. None of the family members cared enough, that's for sure. The servants I would assume they were just already struggling to barely float and be above water that they just did not have the time to check. So it took an outside party that cares about her to confirm it.

In any case, the train wreck continues. Let's Go!

It's rather refreshing to see the her "heroine" sister isn't the worst person in the room. She did wrong things, yes, but that all came from jealousy and lack of affection from her parents. Seems like she realized her mistakes in this incident. Usually types of her characters just doubles down on whatever theyre doing.

Ugh, I hoped that the dead female lead would stay dead as it would've been a more unique read. But no, they obviously have to make her be actually alive. Why couldn't they just stay with this unique idea to the end and not "revive" her?
