Is is just me or isekai/fantasy lately have been using too much of this trope of 'Salaryman wakes up in another world and got cheat skills or OP magic, or Otaku died and become OP. Like, 10 years ago it was new concept and pretty much everyone like it. Now, it become way too generic and borderline boring and many author just reusing the same concept over and over again.

I find it interesting that he has the main conflict of wishing he weren't an old man at heart. If this is a story about him finding revitalization in a new life and role, that's arguably the best possible use of isekai, as much as it's a very worn premise at this point.

So really this series feels like going back to basics (relatively - it’s still a fantasy of some sort because the main character is reborn as an exotic tanned elf girl with awesome magic powers) but it’s a start.

You're more right than you possibly know. Many of the Oz books back at beginning of the 20th century had to do with various people being isekai'd to the land of Oz and finding a place there where the real world didn't. Even Dorothy winds up packing up with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry and leaving the real world behind a second time with them and Toto in tow. There is no place like home and for them that was Oz in the end.

(this isn't even getting into the isekai trope of some later ship teasing between Dorothy and a gender bender girl native to Oz. I am not making any of this up.)

The scribbled text on page 26 reads "買ってもらった" which roughly translates to "Got him to buy it (for me)", referring to the notebook and pencil-thing Haruka is holding.

The translation of the web-novel relies on a lot of machine-translation by (I suspect) a non-English-speaker so the grammar and editing isn't very good. I've read a lot worse.

If I had a nickel for every isekai I've read where the MC becomes a race other that (superior) human I'd be able to afford a quarter. Which isn't much but its wierd that it doesn't happen more often.

Dark elf protag gets taken away by some thughs who intend to assault her, one of them fondles her tits before she reacts cause she was unsure what to do. She defends herself enveloping their heads with water magic and almost drowning them. Then she feels bad for them and saves them from drowning, and the dudes apologize and buy her food until their wallets are empty.
