@Macarena douitashimashite!
@saccharine your interpretation is kind of the "best case scenario" conclusion we came to as well, me and Nakain. Satoko really had nothing to go on in her life before she met Mashuu, and ever since she did, she feels like she's a better person. i think it's true as well. it's just the way she worded it, it required a bit of stretching to make sense 😅

the two of them liking to be with each other, it's enough indeed. but it's more than that, it's like they complete each other's circuits and light up when they're together. these kinds of stories are powerful, and they both move me and make me feel like my life was crap, lollll

The reason I thought it sounded cocky was that she knew Mashuu liked her, but basically says "hey you make me feel better about myself so please keep watching me." Which to me, comes across as making the relationship about her. I know that's not the authors intention, but I had to be really careful about how I worded it so it wouldn't come across that way.

it's a good ending, basically they are a family and love each other as such. Their close bond stems from how they brought each other out of their loneliness and emptiness. Especially from Satoko's side, as she really had nothing in her life before she met Mashuu.

now sure you can say that Mashuu might feel like wanting something more, but he's just young and their history together has him feeling like that. As time passes and he grows up more, he'll experience life and meet new people, and for sure find someone he can be with. And Satoko will be happy to watch him grow up and live :D

also, to the idea that some people are saying that they "need to be together romantically" is the only way for them to be truly happy is just missing the point, it's not. Also just hard no to a romance involving an underage kid

@iamrangerbob your recommendation of "A Boy's Scar" is a good one, indeed there is no romance at all there (and the woman clearly is a lesbian) and holy yikes to the ppl who do... but ya, it's a story about a woman basically adopting the kid, with the unique twist of vampire. Goes into loneliness and helping others similar to this manga~

Why in this site it still has 60+ chapters?

@Scourge17 The site you've posted has most of the chapters split into smaller pieces and the pieces listed as separate "chapters". For example, Chapter 1 was split into 2 halves and the 1st half was listed as "Chapter 1" while the second half is listed as "Chapter 2;" the first half of Chapter 2 is listed as "Chapter 3" and it's second half listed as "Chapter 4", etc.. It's inexplicable to me why this site has done this to artificially inflate the number of chapters as well as misrepresent the total number of chapters in the series.

I can finally put into words what I think Satoko meant when she said she loves her reflection in Mashuu's eyes.
Who was Satoko in the eyes of another people? A cold and anoying woman, unable to mantain a relashionship and even to love properly. Her mother, her ex and even herself saw her like this. An unworth person.
But who is Satoko to Mashuu? He saw her as an amazing and precious person, someone to learn from and to cherish deeply. For the first time, she knows she can love and make the diference on someone's life. And she is reflected like that on Mashuu's eyes because he himself is an amazing and precious person to her.
So it's not her being selfish. It's gratitude and love. Who doesn't want someone like Mashuu in their lives?

I was wondering how the Author going to wrap up the story but seeing this chapter, I'm positive it'll conclude in a satisfactory manner.

I think what Satoko meant was that she loves being with Mashuu but she does not wish to cross the line. She wishes for him to continue expanding his life and to grow, but she also does not wish to separate from him because it feels right to be around him, and as someone with personal anguish, he heals her by simply being there, especially since he accepts her as who she is, with flaws and all. So she simply states that "I love being with you and wish to be (permanent) in your life." regardless of the label of the relationship. She just simply wish to be around him or to be with him.

Satoko's words may not be clear to us, but the fact she said (paraphrased) "someday, I wish to just drive somewhere nice and see myself reflected in your eyes." meant to Mashuu that whatever she does, she wants to be around him, and for him to be around her. She just knows how Mashuu sees her, so she worded her intention in a way that still acknowledges his deep feelings for her, but not crossing the line so to speak, but also convey her deepest wish to him as well.

Mashuu cried because that's exactly what he wanted all this time, for her to be a permanent part of his life and for HIM being permanently part of HER life. That he means as much to her as she means to him.

They do not have to define their relationship because he simply wants her to (permanently) stay, and she is agreeing to (permanently) stick around and I think it's great.

There has been no room left for these characters to have a normal relationship with other people in the future. I mean Mashuu almost died just from finding out that Satoko had an ex. Now that they have both agreed to be permanent fixtures in each other’s lives; how does that make room for other more intimate relationships? To sum it up, I can’t see these two dating other people in the future.

I hope their futures becomes more clear in the next chapter. Not just from the standpoint of their relationship but as a whole.

That line 🥹🥹
it was really well thought of, couldn’t have imagined it ever to say it like that. Truly poetic ❤️
