I don't think this case is that black and white. From this chapter, we could tell that she felt pressured by her parents to perform in school and feels relief "being given up on". At this early stage in life, it's really easy to feel lost and empty regardless of how good your home life is compared to other kids in more unfortunate situations. Teenagers in particular struggle a lot with the feeling of "wanting to belong", and I think that's where this is leading.

She clearly does it as an emotional escape and sort of coping mechanism for her to feel like she's not completely "wasting her youth", since she's making money (regardless of her own happiness or wellbeing). It's a self-destructive behavior. Sure, you can hate her and call her a slut, but that says more about you than about her.
