From the clues, his grandpa was probably a dreamer too, and might or might not have a relationship with someone from the other side. And Eve hinted that her rings granted longevity and the prince outlived his old kingdom, that could be the answer.

Usually I don’t like when rapist/abusing dudes got away pretty much unscathed, but here I must say it was done pretty nicely, even if it was kinda long, still. All the other victims, the girls he brainwashed and did all kind of shit to (presumably), are still the real victims, Eve will get Zarish to apologize to them, in my book it’s nearly not enough to make amends for, but hey, that freak Eve have him chained as a slave, I hope it’ll help.

The confession was probably the best way to end that arc and start a new one, probably full of sugar

Dunno what the point of the prank chapter was, why they kept him alive, or why the sword thought killing a unconscious rapist murder wasn't okay. But I'm glad the MC made some progress.

Kinda take away from any of the tension how MC can die all he wants with no I'll effects.

The "keeping the boytoy alive" part is probably multi-fold.

• Evelyn wanted to make amends
  • Kind of her fault innit
• Evelyn wanted to force him to make amends
• Evelyn wanted to make him understand, even subconsciously, that he's old old
• Widra wanted to improve Kitase's psychology on matters related to ending someone else's life

I still think he doesn't deserve life with the shit he tried to pull. But being forced into subservience, forced to make amends, and also straight up forced to live, by the very one who allowed you to pull the worst shit in the first place, and she does it out of spite pretty much? That's probably worse than getting offed.
