I saw an interesting video essay on toxic males in stories marketed to women, and the author was arguing that making your abuser submit to you was a form of power fantasy for women.

I kinda see why Eve would want to keep him around. Turn the tables on your abuser, making him your servant and stealing his house to run a halfway house for his victims + beating his ass on the regular. It's perpetual revenge instead of the momentary revenge they'd get by killing him.

I don't think it's as healthy as a proactive and effective justice system that criminalizes all the sins of the patriarchy. Neither is the average power-fantasy for boys we get, made of harems and superpowers and righteous (or edgy unrestrained) violence. I prefer fantasies of a classless, moneyless society. But it is a way to counter the helplessness we might feel in our regular lives with mythology.
