It bothers me that she has suspicions regarding the evil guy and doesn’t say shit. She doesn’t even voice her concerns to the emperor, which would at least hinder the evil guys plans by making others wary of what he says or does. Case in point, how he approaches Ryu-Ban. What makes it worse though is the fact that she had the audacity to compare her lying to appease the emperor, she’s seen be tempermental, to the lies the other guy seemed to be telling as if they were equal, when shes seen first hand that this man has used his two-facedness to bully others and slapped him due to that. I cant get over it.
Her qualities so far have been speaking eloquently, longing for her terrible previous life, and the basic ‘no real punishments’ thing FLs tend to do when they’re wronged that is somehow supposed to showcase how kind they are instead of foolish. Banishment? Really? The middle ground between that and killing someone tends to be some degree of prisonment. Which would have been preferable in order to properly question the maid she knew was lying.
Ive tried to be understanding of her wanting to go back home due to how scary a situation like that must be but I cant bring myself to like her when every chapter was centered around that. Her misgivings should have been resolved way earlier than this chapter because when every page is her trying to escape back to a place she hated it gets in the way of how relationships with her are developed. She doesn’t trust the ML, who tells her time and time again how much he trusts her, and treats their relationship as a temporary thing. Ryu-Ban has a weird interest in her that is responded with politeness. Ga-Ya hates her so FL put zero effort into getting to know her.
Honestly instead of making a love interest out of Ryu-Ban, FL should have had a friendship between her and Ga-Ya form after FL defended her. Ga-Ya’s character suffered without that because every panel of her was some degree of anger and/or jealousy. Ga-Ya would have benefitted from FLs empathetic disposition and FL would have learned to be more open with herself by watching Ga-Ya.
There were missed chances in this story that made it flow awkwardly.
