Umbu'te shows back up, and follows Kyouko to her (and her now husband's) apartment. He breaks in, and when Kyouko sees him, she recognizes him, and rather than be raped again, she jumps off the balcony of their apartment, killing herself and their unborn child. The death is declared a suicide by the police, with no further investigation. The husband spirals into unrecoverable depression, and literally drinks himself to death. Umbu'te is never brought to justice, nor even pursued. The final panel is Umbu'te eating a riceball and drinking a can of coffee on the side of a convenience store, unperturbed by all of the lives he has ruined.

I don't think anyone thought this chapter itself was literally the ending. More that this sort of timeskip is usually something that stories like this do right before they go to wrap things up. It's often a tactic of stories that are on the verge of getting axed, skipping over all the stuff in between where the story is now and where it needs to be to wrap up in a (maybe) satisfactory way

Yeah, timeskip does seem to herald the closing arc. But it doesn't feel premature or rushed to me. I mean, I'd be happy seeing Kyouko & Touma fart around enjoying implicit lovey-dovey segs forever, but the actual story seems to have run its course. And as others have mentioned, Broken Childhood Friend and Divorced Crybaby Neighbor are at this point identical. Except for the hair oc, pudding vs. strawberry shortcake (ty @Candymon ❤️).
