I suspect the usage of singular is because little sister has shown no resistance to the status quo until very recently (which she likely has kept shrouded from her parents view)

Hesha meanwhile was always outspoken and has been basically broadcasting her affection for all with eyes to see since picking Jolene

I'd believe despite the imagery, Serena and mother likely only made this promise recently

Yeah I thought some of that was strange, especially since Hesha hasn’t really been “bold” until she met Jolene. Also would sort of explain why the two older gays aren’t paying a lick of attention to Faye’s grooming. It’s great to see them care about Hesha…now notice the other shit going down!
