This doesn't bode well for the quality of the writing. The author was unable to write a chapter with the action, instead opted to show the reader the resolution, with the MC recalling what happened. A mini-time-skip to avoid the hard parts of storytelling, if you will.

I know one shouldn't ask much from these kind of mangas, but it's still a shame.

A conversation with him and her arguing about the holy sword after it was absorbed? No. Spices was expensive back then, if anything she would've probably ended up using a lot of garlic if she went with commoner's cooking, because that was an inexpensive spice at the time. So you know, all the delicious super garlicky tasting stuff you like eating now? That was considered commoner slop back then.

Well then again, it's a typical manga, you can't expect that sort of attention to historical detail. We're really just here for the romcom. Really if anything, it only just sets her up as the typical romantic interest who doesn't know how to cook.

I like the little tid bit were she uses lots of spices in consideration of preserving the food.
And that is true, back in the day when food had double digits amount of spices for the more wealthy and the more poor would do the same if they could.
It was mostly because of preservation of the food and marking any rot that may happen as refrigeration with a modern refrigerator is a recent thing so using spices would preserve and extend the shelf life and increase the taste of your food.
If anyone looks at older foods one would see flavors that would be considered odd to use.

Yes, but not exactly. If you look at historical cooking channels or just general history channels regarding the cooking of olden days, it's actually all pretty tasty grub. It's a general misconception that people intentionally made food taste disgustingly overspiced or anything else of the sort. Even the stuff that sounds like it would be far too salty to eat are basically just ingredient preparation. Once it's actually cooked as a dish as intended, it ends up being just well seasoned.

It's like the misconception that a claymore is a heavy sword when in reality it's a fairly lightweight sword that happens to just be far longer than a short sword and in the end far faster and far more effective in combat. Or the misconception that a Katana was a miraculously well crafted sword whose mythical processing made superior blades when in reality it was primarily just a means to make good use of bad ores.

Clearly there is only one way for her to retrieve her blade and that is for her to sheathe his sword into her now corporeal form. Why else would she have magically gained this body if not for her to regain the essence of her holy blade but through some physical ritual.

Well, that would be the Doujin Hentailand logic, which also sometimes applies to regular old ecchi manga too. So who knows.
