I wonder if the rogue was talking about Agete as the seed that has sprouted, since Agete basically plotted against another witch, even though it was only of benefit for Coco. Of course it's still quite possible to use Coco as well. Her mother's fate is a double-edged sword: It keeps Coco from being carelessly attracted to forbidden magic, but it also means if she believes something might help her mother, she might try it even if it was forbidden. Of course the rogue might also have simply meant that by accepting a total commoner as a witch apprentice, traditions were broken.

So you hate anyone who is worse than you at your main "profession". So, the only way you can be happy is if you are the worst at your "profession". Being great at something made me want to do it more as well as teach those who have a moderate to a lot of skill. If I'm moderately good then same things except I'd help those with no experience to my skill level. Sometimes those who are new have some skills of their own that may help.

Oh so she did know that place was currently the most dangerous it is all year. I always hate when stuff like this is part of your first impression of a character who is clearly going to be one of the friends later on. You can't really make up for this kind of thing. She could save Coco's life a dozen times, I'd still have trouble forgetting the time she could've gotten Coco killed because she was being a bitch for no good reason.

I hope Agete won't become a character that Coco will befriend in the future. She tried to kill Coco, and deserves the consequences.
I detest characters like that. She'll regret stepping into the world of whatever.

Also, if everyone can draw magic, why does those specific children draw magic? Why only them? The witches that decided to rob everyone in the world are just selfish.

So if magical shoes are a-okay to use because it's not "magic directly on the human body" and counts as a magical tool... Could you simply just slap sheets of paper to your body with glyphs on them and still be within the rules? Technically it's not DIRECTLY on your body...

Also, how the hell would healing magic apply? Assuming it even exists, it doesn't seem like it'd be kosher to the rules. You have to manipulate the body in order to do such treatment. And while, yes, that could be used for evil and bad things, it could also be used for good. (I've always thought that if healing magic could cure mental illnesses that would be terrifying because it would mean it could be capable of altering mental chemical balances - in other words, not that different from mind control) Any power can be used for ill or good. Restricting such things that could be beneficial because someone might be an asshole seems pretty god damn short sighted. I mean, a knife can cut meat, cut bread, cut thread or cut open someone's throat. Don't punish the tool for the actions of the individual.

@definitionofinsanity I don't think the author thinks that the witches are the good guys here. They are just people who are scared of their power and this fear is what drives them to limit it. Whether limiting this power is good or bad I honestly can't say cause I have no idea what battle magic is capable of here, but imagine the same thing as nuclear weapons or weapons of mass destruction. Ir-regulated power will go awry at some point, but the witches here are way too strict and that's what I think the story will go to.

Why did no one mention to that witch how Agete lied and manipulated Coco into doing the test at the most dangerous time specifically behind the witch's back to force Coco out of the path of magic, directly against the wishes of her teacher? Why did the witch not punish her for it? There's no way Coco could have known of the test or been able to set up the gate window or known about the rule on what is and isn't allowed if she wasn't goaded into it by one of the other apprentices. How stupid is that witch to not realise and punish Agete for it?

Wow, what a cute furry dildo bug.

Anyway, that's a good thing that she learn to use her usual item for drawing magic. Bright kid.
