I have no idea what his actual views are, as his whole schtick is pandering to edgy 14 year olds. Looking at his twitter for 3 seconds made me feel by brain rot by seeing the amount of people treating him as some sort of messiah of antiwokism.

He made anime memes and then caught on with vulture drama-bait and then never let go.

It gets him the bag because he can force people to take sides on issues he makes up, which his braindead fans regurgitate all over the internet. Repeat every day, maybe stream it for some live donos.

What surprises me is that I'd hoped that 4 years later those 14 year olds would've developed mentally, and you'd think the guy would run out of ways to rehash the same "localization team translation hurt my feelings".

In short, in the West, many woke activist set their eyes on Weeb contents, before this, they only targeted Western media like Western movies and comic books, but as Manga, Anime, and Japanese Games are getting more and more socially accepted, it also brings many unwanted attention from those so be called Wokesm.

this is not news at all, this has been happening for 10+ years now, but only got attention recently as its intensity became greater and greater.

My takes are this:
While I also worry about this issue, OP should stop spreading Rev's content as in the end he is just a drama tuber that will take profits from both sides. I do watch her content from time to time, but I make sure to not give him any engagement.

We all know that most Westerners are weird for liking ugly or overweight women/characters, and we also know that Weeb is always stared at with Slint eyes by those normies. so nothing is new here

But these discussion groups remind me of AMESS CULTURE and how people like that like to pretend their worldview is the correct one and all individuals should behave according to their worldview. Amess people are hilarious and ridiculous.

The funny thing to me: almost 25(!) years ago when I first started getting into anime at college, the American otaku/fanboy/Japanese pop culture community (or at least the part of it I was involved with) was one of the most welcoming and open groups in the broader realm of geekly pursuits. It pretty much didn't matter who you were as a person - if you liked anime or manga, there was a place for you at the table, and no one was going to try and belittle you because of who you were. It wasn't woke - there were a couple of guys I knew at the time who were pretty staunchly right on the political spectrum - but there also wasn't anyone trying to run someone else out because they were LGBT or a 2nd amendment supporter or had voted for Bush or Gore or had more/less money.

That general approach has served me well in the intervening decades - I really don't care what you do or how you live your life, so long as you don't (a) try and force me into living a certain way simply because you think it's the 'right' way, (b) try to keep rubbing your viewpoint in my face when I've told you I disagree and asked you to stop, or (c) try to deprive me of my basic rights (life, liberty, property, speech, religion, association, pursuit of happiness - probably a few others). I'll also readily bear the consequences of voicing an unpopular opinion or taking an unpopular action, including having others decide not to associate with me, provided everyone else realizes that I get to decide who I associate with based on what they say/do as well. This last point seems to be one of the biggest hangups for both ends of the spectrum.

To be fair, part of this is because social prejudices teach us that women are weak and defenseless, and that their attention in any situation is desired by a man or, for that matter, other women. For example, when you read news about female sexual predators, most men will leave comments like “I wish I was in his shoes” and “Damn, that boy is lucky.” This is the sad irony of human society, sometimes prejudices go so far that they even turn against those who invented them.
