On one hand, a cinematic/climactic confession scene would have been great after all this time, but on the other hand, you have to respect the fact that once he got the chance to reciprocate directly after realizing, he goes for it.

The only time this concept even makes sense is like, valentines. Otherwise, I'd rather see the confession before a holiday/event and then see the characters as a couple for said event. I mean, aren't people getting tired of stories ending at the confession?
