kinda surprised that nobody thought to console makiba about his dead grandfather (especially oogami?). is the culture in japan just radically different when it comes to that? i get that its arguably the biggest deal moment for the romance to progress and he might not have been particular close with his grandfather but a death is a death and in schools here friends and classmates giving consolations is expected behaviour even if it was usually phoned in by people who weren't close

This might be the most egregious abuse of the interruption trope I've seen in a manga so far...
In fact, it's so lazy and obviously only to stretch, that I'm betting Makiba actually did mean the friendly kind of 'like' and is going to ask her to be his 'friend' on Christmas and then she'll chicken out and reverse progress just so they can squeeze out 30 more chapters and do a rush job 2 chapter confession and ending combo.
I really hope I'm wrong.
