@Nou Yeah, plate armor is not as movement disruptive as many people think but there are a few things to consider, one is the stamina that goes down real fast (armor alone weights around 15-35kg and you have to add the chain mail for more than 10 kg of extra weight thats added directly to the shoulders not counting the complementary gear), another is that if your plate armor is on the lighter side, means the limbs are less armored to favor ease of movement, making them more vulnerable, and last but not least is that due to the helm your peripherical vision is virtually null, making oponents who can flank very dangerous

How hard would you have to hit someone to pulp their skull like that?

Lets go !!! Karate vs Plate Armor, and logically, person who wear Plate Armor would receive more concussion, causing them to get stunned for a while, lets see if that gonna be in the next part 👀👀

@vannn did some research. A punch like that would have to pack more newtons of force the a 15 pound sledgehammer. To give comparison, Mike Tyson is the heaviest hitting fighter ever recorded, and one of his punches was recorded at 1600 joules, while a full force swing from the average male adult with a 15 pond sledgehammer is recorded at 1100 joules of energy.

btw let me explain newtons and joules simply.
They are both very similar, but a joule is used to measure energy, while a newton is used to measure force. Think of it as a hand grenade explosion. The actual explosion is measured in joules, and the shrapnel would be measured in newtons. Ok so onto what they actually are. ! joule of energy is the amount of energy it takes to lift a 100 gram object (about the weight of a snicker bar for the americans out there) 1 meter into the air over the course of 1 second. If you left that 100 gram object on a table, the object would exert 1 newton of force on the table.

@ryski

So a level 15 monk (not sure how a karateka translate into classes) punches as hard or as hard as Mike Tyson. Interesting, that context really makes me feel the weight of that punch.

Time to unscrew the pommel of your sword and throw it at the enemy
then play the Lute to celebrate their defeat

@Bearil that is defiantly true, it's not like plate armour didn't have its downsides but assuming this guy trained/used it for a long time he should be able to move around with the armour for a while and looking at it, it's full plate armour although you are right that the guy will have a poor field of view due to the helmet.
