I wonder what he can sell this sort of experience and strategy to the information brokers for?

Now imagine a symbiotic relationship between a plant and an animal developing. the plant produces a chemical to attract and debilitate a prey species, the wolf kills them and leaves nourishing fertiliser behind...

yeah being an adventurer seems to mean you just get sent on suicide missions
In this world, adventurers are basically bandits that follow the rules enough to be allowed into towns and cities. They're sufficiently useful to be tolerated by the rulers and citizenry, but not so important that anyone would weep over their deaths. And there are always enough common folk down on their luck who end up drifting into adventuring and replace the losses.

Interesting. It seems that the wolves have found a way to make use of the flower's poison to catch prey easily. I guess that what the flowers get out of it is that animals coming around are unlikely to harm them, since they'll get preyed on, and perhaps the remaining carcass of the animals killed also provide some extra nutrients for those plants.
I wonder how the wolves knew Yajin was there, especially since he covers himself with mud and stuff to mask his scent. I guess Yajin's detection didn't pick them up so they're pretty stealthy themselves. It's not like he's been picking herbs for very long, so they must be checking the place repeatedly. I don't think there's a reason for animals to come around there a lot though; there's no water or fruits, though perhaps the herbs are still interesting?
I'm not too surprised about Yajin getting ambushed like this though. I mean, seeing him just walk through open terrain looked very dangerous. If you've got a team, then yeah, someone can go in and start working, but without it's probably best to monitor the situation for a day to understand what happens there. I guess he didn't want to spend too much time on it.
Well, it's time for him to karate chop his way out of this. He's about to get really lucky because, supposedly those wolves have taken down other adventurers who came here, and were therefore of similar ranking to Yajin, and it's 5 against 1. They'll have him surrounded and start biting his limbs and then his neck. I expect he's going to start by running for the trees on the other side because he needs something at his back or ideally to climb a tree, but wolves are fast so he might do something else.
In this episode, Yajin takes a well earned break from the relentless violence in which he normally indulges, instead he tries smelling the wonderful and totally peaceful flowers...

Talking of relaxing, I'll be travelling the world to join one of the many coups for the holiday season, so expect a delay in the release of next month's episode.
Have fun!

This series does a spectacular job at making ordinary threats look absolutely menacing. The ants actually feel like a threat, the plants' ominous presence is unsettling, and the wolves really do look like proper wolves on the hunt rather than snarling and mindless isekai monsters.

It's possible they normally take out smaller animals who would be more vulnerable to the poison, in which case they could be there for grazing etc. I'm imagining rabbits or something like that. The wolves are smart enough to harness this to catch bigger animals.

This also means the wolves might not be very committed to hunting Yaijin since he's unharmed by the poison. They have every reason to think they could win, but they also have every reason to think they could be injured by a big animal that tends to have adventurer levels. If they're very hungry that's one thing, but if they've eaten recently they might be willing to wait for an easier prey.

Why have they been sending so many adventurers there to die?
I don't really understand what the point of withholding crucial information about what he will face in their own request, even going so far as to not telling him what the grass THEY want looks like. "It's to make him learn how to gather information" is absolute bullshit, and it only fits with the theme of everyone in this world being an absolute cunt willing to kill or get you killed for no actual reason, at which point the only reason it hasn't been destroyed is that no one made a big enough bomb yet.

Warning! Satan has turned his sexual apparatus into a flower. DO NOT huff the sweet scent. DO NOT take a nap nearby.

I feel partial the theory that they wanted him to give up and take on lesser requests, rather than risking him graduating to a more profitable guild in a larger city.

Seems like yet another fight is on Yajin's hands.

These wolves seem smarter than the usual kind. They're using the plants to do the work for them.

If Yajin can figure out how to leverage this area (and maybe the animals) in his favor, it could be a nice place to run to when he gets chased by an angry mob or a group of criminals.
