This is most notable with your '-ing' words. Keep that all together instead of just breaking off the -ng on its own, that just looks really weird.

Wow, her mom is the worst. Colloquially and figuratively speaking, of course; in reality, she's at least not nearly as bad as Vickie Guerrero.

Unfortunately that type is too common.
If the mom does not work (likely in Japan), and there is not much in the way of life insurance or assets, they can becomes dependent on having a new husband. If new hubby only cares for his own kid...

Little sister is already trash in my books. I doubt she was unaware of a difference in how parents treat them.

They lived together for like a year, and she was 7 or 8 at the time. MC likely has not even been mentioned since she moved out if the mother never calls.
