Honestly my problem is Kase-san not just telling her straight up that she's not interested in her that way. She wouldn't even have to fake a relationship (with a boy). She doesn't have to even indicate any sort of sexual preference. All she had to say was: I don't see you that way.

Instead she's making the same mistake every male protagonist makes in every harem show ever (the reason I can't even watch them) - having a clear love interest but stringing Fukami along because she's afraid of hurting her or damaging her "friendship" with her (Is she even really a friend? They're just on the same team, I don't recall them doing anything else together). This mindset of "I'd rather mess with the persons feelings than just be honest" is why I almost exclusively watch female-lead series. The lone exception being SAO, because harem jokes aside, Kirito has only had eyes for Asuna since the beginning and has been very clear on that matter to the other girls in the show.

I'm hoping Yamada shows up (accidentally) or somehow learns about the race so she gives Kase-san that extra motivation she needs to win. This whole arc has just been unnecessary stupidity. I came for the fuwa fuwa, not the forced evil villain drama that screws up so many yuri series. I'm just worried that Kase-san might not take the race as seriously as an official one if that doesn't happen.

Jesus fucking Christ Kase really is a terrible girlfriend. They literally lose out on the first apartment due to her not being able to fucking turn someone down and said "hey I have a girlfriend, sorry I can't be with you" and now she can't even be bothered to at least take some fucking efforts to assist Yamada in finding THEIR APARTMENT? Yamada should honestly dump her and find someone better, poor fucking girl being treated by everyone like a goddamn doormat

Already know Kase will somehow destroy all this again. Also the fact that she first makes Them lose their Dream apartment because she cant reject her roommate and her stupid race, now she cant even be bothered helping look for a new apartment.
I Will say this again, Yamada should break up with Kase since the roommate is clearly more important to Kase than her

Okay. I can see where this is going.
Kase loses her race, fails to reject Fukami, disappoints Yamada, gets dumped by her. Kase’s life goes downhill, she is expulsed from college. To earn money she becomes a courier for a criminal syndicate, while Yamada, no longer naive, hardened by the cruel world, starts her business venture and grows it into a burgeoning gardening empire. Years later, Kase is tasked to transport a newly developed sort of flower, which is capable of being processed into a highly potent drug. But little did she know that flower was stolen from Yamada’s company lab. The chase ensues…
Now that would be entertaining

Like honestly she can't even bothered to at least go out and look for the apartment that she HERSELF would probably live in for years, with the most important person to her in the world right now. Yamada have to dragged herself around, being stressed the hell out with a deadline or she will have to delay the plan for months, wasting both time and money, while her girlfriend remains in the dorm room with someone who has clearly stated that they are into Kase and Kase doesn't mind that. With Yamada's personality, she most likely will just suffer alone without speaking out if that happen.

thanks for putting into perspective why this arc sucks so much ass. i thought 'cute gay girlfriends go to college' would give us a more mature look at the difficulties of relationships (which tbf is a tough subject to make narratively compelling) but instead it's like they regressed into middle schoolers.

Wow, y'all really don't like Kase :worry:
I get being frustrated with both of them, but remember that at the time of this manga being made same-sex relationships still aren't legally protected in Japan, and many schools and jobs will fire/expel a person for anything that's considered "deviant". Kase might not have cared about her teammates and classmates suspecting or finding out in high school, but now that she's competing at university level any kind of "scandal" would be career ending. She trusts Fukami, sure, but it still would've been a huge risk to tell her right from the get-go that Yamada was her girlfriend, not just a girl friend.
Honestly I did not have much problems with ther until the recent chapters like it was HER idea to live together after the first year and she is not worried for the reasons you are talking about the only worry that she has is that her roomate will be mad at her and that is it. That was enough for her to throw the hole plan away and put the livelihood of her girlfriend in trouble at the last minute.

"How Do We Relationship" is better for that.

To be fair, recent chapters of Futaribeya hinted that Kasumi is not really in love, she just likes being spoiled. They had an actual serious relationship talk, then they dropped it and the story is back to cute shenanigans. It was a moment of relationship drama in the fluffiest romcom ever.

Or she'll just complain to Yamada again and it'll be a "both sides" were wrong thing. Nothing about how these events have been treated leads me to believe the author thinks Kase as doing anything that bad. Seems to think it's cute and "awe-shucks." So it wouldn't surprise me if some variation of that is what happens. At least the friend was somewhat upset.
It's not impossible that if part 1 was a romance story, part 2 is a break-up story. Like how couples move in, see their partner's flaws, and either sink or swim. I can see part 2 being about their turbulence before or after they move in together. Even if it's not presented as "good or bad" it is presented as Kase having less motivation to be together than Yamada. That's a flag.

I didn't expect the author to pull the rug out from under us after part 1. But, considering how this current arc has everyone on edge, as we see these cracks forming between Yamada and Kase, I am preparing myself for heartache.

Buddy, you completely missed the point. The openly-lesbian plot already started a while ago and is pretty much on hold right now and will most probably come up again in a later arc to be resolved. This is NOT about that at all. Neither is it worth right now to discuss what being lesbian/LGBTQ in Japan entails- it just IS NOT important in this manga right now and it most probably will not be for some more chapters. Fukami DOES NOT NEED TO KNOW. Fukami is IRRELEVANT TO THE STORY. Period.

How can you say you are frustrated with both of them? Yamada is working well as a character right now. People are fucking pissed at Kase !as a character! due to her being turned into a even more stupid and selfish fool by the chapter- when she already behaved like a kid for the past 20 some chapters. She has done virtually NOTHING this installment to improve/progress their relationship apart from 2 or 3 fanservice panels where she finally indulges Yamada. Apart from that, Kase is pretty much the reason why 90% of conflicts between them happen and actively trying to jeopardize their future.

And Yamada has to pick up the pieces every. single. time. and compromise immensely to stay with Kase- which is just unfair. Even now Yamada, about to be homeless, was told by Kase to not take the nice apartment because of her minor dispute with a stranger to Yamada (Fukami). She was literally left alone by Kase to find a roof for them while having her own stuff going on and torturing herself for Kase to literally play around.

Kase needs to face some sort of consequences before this shit arc ends. And Yamada needs to grow a back bone instead of being a doormat.

Kase's attitude is toxic as hell. Since Yamada's friend actually lampshaded that she should be angry about the shit Kase did It at least shows that author is perfectly aware and not sweeping it under the rag completely.

well the ch itsell was ok but what i really wanted was more on whats going on with Kase and the other girl

want things to be dealt with already and also i wonder will Kase say she's with Yamada already ( the reaction to that should be fun)

if anything next ch will be the interesting ch and hopefully the end of this arc (hopefully)

but all in all this has been one annoyingly dragged on arc least thats what it feels like

Consequences? Ha that was funny,I think the friend noticing was the consequence.

Yes, I hate her. Her stupid bet with her roommate/self-proclaimed rival was more important to her than her girlfriend. This is "who pays for today's lunch" sort of bet a bunch of middle/high-schoolers would make, not an adult who's betting her relationship.
This whole arc would make sense is she was fighting for a spot in Olympics or something. Then her behavior would be kinda excusable (career vs. love sort of thing).

And all of this is on top of the fact that she has zero input to her relationship. Yamada is always there when she needs her but when Yamada needs Kase, she's not there. This would be fine if this is the (one-sided) relationship they want to have and they both agree to it but this is clearly not the case.

So yeah, Kase is terrible and I hate her. Hopefully she will learn from this and get her priority list straight because a roommate/rival should not be even close to Yamada on that list.

btw. Yamada is at fault too for holding back and just taking it all in. I know she doesn't want to endanger her relationship and she's afraid of Kase picking her sport career over her but setting things straight now would be better than just enduring it. She's turning herself into a ticking bomb.

Wouldnt even be surprised if it turns out to be a break-up story, where the reason Yamada breaks up with Kase is because Kase cheated on her with the roommate, since Kase clearly cant reject/say no to her at all and because she clearly likes the roommate more than Yamada at this point
