I love Honoka's design a lot but I really can't stand her fashion sense it's so bad

i'd imagine as a college student other than a part time job or being more conscious it's something she wouldn't focus on, and while she's not that 'big' in comparison to other 'chubby' charas i can imagine there being some 'try to go shopping but all shirts/tops are 1-2 sizes too small for me' tho dresses can be fairly loose

Actually it's more of a combination of self image thing and comfort. It's common for people who see themselves as fat to buy things that are too big. But yes, finding something that is well fitted for a chubby body is just hard. Most clothes that are the "correct" size will ride up in a way that both uncomfortable and embarrassing because the cloth to tends "catch" and stretch around the fat instead of falling back down
