Art is great and the Mc doesn’t seem like a dense sub human even in his previous life (who doesn’t watch trash anime) my thing with these type of stories is 1, they don’t last long and 2, the updates are so slow I forget about them and when I pick them back up the plot sucks. I know they’re more common now but I still like the reincarnated as a evil noble who’s trying to survive the plot when done right (which is rare)

If the villain character was able to instantly see and recreate even the most complex magic with seemingly no cost or drawback, how is it that they were never able to accomplish anything at all?

I don't think they put any thought into this, as usual.

Irl tradeoff for photographic memory, lack of image manipulation.
My wife can recall everything she is awake for, but she can't imagine a blue apple in her minds eye.
Meanwhile I struggle with anniversary dates, but I can make a blue apple with orange flesh and red seeds easy.
Then you have those people who see nothing, ever. As minecraft youtuber Grian once said "it's like the computer is on, running everything fine, but the screen is off". Frightening I say.
That's really interesting; I've always thought of photographic memory as a sort of superpower, but never considered it might have some trade-offs.

I hope to see that utilized in the series (or another similar story, God knows we have plenty) since you have to imagine the magic in order to use it. It could lead to a really interesting character dynamic.

Unfortunately I have zero hope in that we'll be seeing anything like that here.

I can only assume it's because in the og timeline, he was a lazy bum who didn't actually try to learn magic, thus over-relying on his memory without putting in the work necessary to develop proper understanding.

Photographic memory would be great for, well, memorization, obviously. Same with other grammar level information. However, as soon as you reach logic or especially rhetoric level knowledge, it stops being as helpful, since those things require you to think deeply about and properly understand the subject at hand.

TLDR: You can't learn something (very well) if you don't actually give a shit about it. And in the og timeline, the guy seemed to be a very typical bad-guy-villain-man type of character.

Oh yeah, also, there was also swordsmanship, which can't be learned solely by memorization.

Got to appreciate the Yamcha posing. Author knows a nice tasteful beatdown pose.

Also, so many sparkles. These are some sparkly dudes.

Oh man that's exactly my hobby too being watched 'trashy' anime. Finding not-so-popular anime and turned out to be good is still fun and exiting like back then for me

I know I should have low standards for this kind of manga but I shall complain a bit anyway. First off if he was an asshole that influences behavior of those around him. The maid is extremely casual with him which is odd if he tended to react badly. And why do they have to be that lazy about making their MCs OP? He sits down for a few hours and is suddenly a great mage? That feels like bullshit and "camera eyes" or whatever isn't enough of a handwave to make it feel natural.

Also that should have made the original rather strong if it is that easy with his ability, did the guy with an inferiority complex and people trying to get him to study just never try at all?

He is just connecting two traits his wife has, afaik there is no connection between good memory and being bad at visualization or aphantasia.

(Also photographic memory is just a pop culture thing, eidetic memory is a thing but mainly in children and much weaker than the idea of photographic memory. It last a short while instead of forever and isn't actually a 100% reliable reproduction.)
