I commented a while back about how I don't even need to read the chapter title to know if it'll be about these two because said chapters always emanate this weird brain-melting aura that makes me incapable of focusing on them & taking in any info from the first panel... just wanted to say this is still true; I had to double-check that it was 3 chapters instead of just 1 because I was pretty damn sure I read the same thing 3 times in a row lol

The comments, as always, end up being more interesting; on the first chii-chapter of this latest batch someone said something like "wtf is the author thinking focusing on these two so much? we always get 9 chapters with these idiots for each one with the characters the story is named after" and i just wanted to say please don't jinx it, i had my hopes up for it being just 4:1 but the repetition is making it really seem like we're going for a full 9 now lol

I hate Chita as much as the next guy. And her being the main focus of this manga nowadays has really taken away a lot of the spotlight from the Anjou x Seto and Toyoda x Inuyama, both couples have so much more narrative meat to go through and are way more engaging and well written. But if the author really wants to make Chita x Tokio a thing, he would really need to step up and utilize the other characters for her character growth like this chapter.

This chapter gives me a bit of confidence that the author would actually be able to do it. My suggestions is that the author would make Chita witness the other couples' relationship so that she can evaluate what's wrong with her and her treatment of Tokio. Then, the other girls would need to be actually frank with Chita, since there's not a single chapter on this manga where they were genuinely upset at her despite the amount of bullshit that they have to go through. These ideas would allow the other characters to be narratively relevant and be helpful in developing Chita's character. Coz' this is one of those character arcs wherein an outside intervention is needed because Chita's stuck on facing it head on.

I'm just as much a non-fan of Chita as the next guy, but I'm starting to hope beyond hope that they'll start giving her actual layers.

Like, bear with me, but have you noticed that through the entire series, Chita has never stuck to one single thing for too long?

So far, this mukbang channel has been the longest she's stayed with a single idea and now she's actually successful, suddenly she can't eat.

I'm actually wondering if this is unintentional self-sabotage. Like, less an issue of self-esteem, but it's the first time one of her "get rich quick" schemes seems to be working, and now she just... can't. Despite overeating being the one thing consistant about her character she... can't.

Like, this might be Stockholm Syndrome setting in, but could this be... development!?

:Kal referring to Kalium (the Latin name for Potassium).

Nah dude, its Chita she sucks so much. Its not a trend because "lol haterz" shes just awful.
I mean, you're literally one of the people I'm talking about.

Like, not liking her story is one thing and I can definitely agree that the story is quite lackluster. But genuinely, people like you come in the comments every single time to moan and groan at the character instead of the story as if the character is an actual person.

The character is quite literally a part of the story…..

Critiquing the character is just as valid as critiquing the story as a whole, it doesn’t suddenly not count just because the main focus of the series isn’t Chita.

She is a fundamentally flawed character along with Tokio and they both continuously drag down the series every chapter they’re in because of how poorly their story arcs are written.

I don't hate her nor do I hate Tokio. They're very simple characters and I feel like they could have a cute romantic story I just don't think either of them have developed enough substance for entire chapters. I mean we had sooo many chapters of Inuyama and Toyoda being side characters who were only a part of the chapter but then develop character motivations and a relationship with each other without any connection to the other characters. When these two started getting together and having their own solo chapters we already knew a lot about both of them, we just learnt more than was in character with what we knew and their romance developed without anyone else but each other.

Tokio and Chi have ONLY ever been developed around the other characters, Chi's entire personality was being the gag sidekick character to the trio of ladies and Tokio was only ever introduced really as Chi's love interest. I have no idea what Tokio really wants as he seems to just be dragged around Chi while Chi just affectively wants a gag goal of being a mukbang YouTuber and for the status quo. Romance for them is completely one sided without a single development on Chi's side and I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up needing the other characters pushing it.

I really think they should have stayed as side characters with them hanging out in the background and developing a romance without it being something focused on. I feel like people would have been fine with that.

i also survived cancer and i thought it was funny. its as joke about a fake character in a manga series. you dont need to take it so seriously.
That's with written one liners. Without any emojis and due to the lack of intonation, the whole sender-reciever spiel gets even harder.

To you it's just a joke. That's great, I'm all for seeing all sides of life with a hint of comedy 😊

To me, it read like an empathy less comment ridiculing the seriousness of cancer.

Either way, I stand with my 1st comment. If you hat Chi chapters - don't read them? If you gotta hate on her never the less - be my guest, in a civilized way. Spread black humor like a shotgun, I don't really care for that 3rd wheel coupling either. But make it clear it's a joke, and not some, sorry, asshole comment.

But starting a wave of whining and hate every Chi chapter... You lot could really find some other outlet. Most of us are here to enjoy fictional stories abd share/discuss our thoughts about the literature and art.

Need an outlet for your frustrations and hate? Go find a wall - and/or a sub-reddit.

The sudden loss of appetite came on the heels of having her relationship with Tokio questioned by the other Streamer, and that Streamer also showing interest in Tokio.

I'd argue it's Chita subconsciously worrying over Tokio and his popularity among others. He was getting talked up in her video comments as well - my read is, Chita is suddenly realizing other people see Tokio, and a part of her is fearful that he'l be taken away from her - just like she thinks Anjou & Toyoda were.

And with Tokio, there's the added texture if his liking her - which I think she takes got granted, only now even that's being called into question.

So I think her inability to eat is a backlog of emotions she hasn't been processing, and it all coming to a head now that the last person "that is hers" is potentially going to leave her (in her mind). And because Anjou & Toyoda did, Tokio easily could as well.

So the trick, I think, is the author needs to use this to push Chita forward to process and admit her feelings, and do something constructive to address her problem.
Best case it also makes her comfortable with change, and with herself changing, as she potentially comes out of this with a new type of relationship with Tokio.

Because shes uninteresting, I understand now that shes had dynamics to her that arent fully developed but holy hell how long has it taken her? From "lol I eat stuff and love my friends" to "NO BOYS ALLOWED REEE" to "wait why do I feel things" how many god damn chapters has it been? Its so frustrating to watch this nonsense because she herself is a nothing character. Tokio deserves better, give him the streamer girl.
