I enjoyed the chapter. It was kinda predictable that this is where this one was going, and I'm here for the ride. At least now we have Chii participating in the conversation, instead of Tokio saying something, and her ignoring it and changing the subject.

Is she perhaps asexual and does not realize it herself?

Doubt it, this is a japanese story. They rarely do nuanced depictions of these topics.
This is what I was thinking. Either she likes girls or is asexual and gives no fucks about relationships. But like you said, this is manga, and they rarely explore those topics. I just hope it doesn't lead to one of Japan's favorite romance tropes, "I don't know what love is!"

I'd like this arc if I was able to read the chapters all at once (i.e. in a volume release), but getting them trickle fed is  brutal.

Can't tell if this is a fakeout for her not feeling "attractive" and "mature" enough, or if she's not attracted to Tokio and/or men.

It'd be cool/very grounded if a romcom had that angle for once, but I'm not expecting it. Having said that, I'm very ready for this arc to be over, regardless of how it ends.

Tokio really does deserve better but not for the reasons she thinks he does. Had she not been a dishonest child about her feelings up till now she may have been a likeable character.
Like I said a bunch of chapters ago, hopefully Tokio moves on and we can get back to couples that don't toxically abuse the relationship with their partners.

Honestly I didn't expect that she was aware. It really is missed potential this arc, we should have had so many more moments like this which showed she's self aware that's she's stuck in the past and it's constantly trying to distract herself because that would have been some level of depth to her. Still not much with Tokio though, kinda a bland character.

I'm going to get bonked or ❎'d for this but I really think she's aroace. I wouldn't expect a mangaka to explicitly explore that angle in a manga like this, but that's the vibe I get from her.

See, while the main reason I hated Chita, the fact that she seems to always be using the other two girls for her own gain, hasn't changed, the thing I hated about her in her relationship with Tokio, which is her knowing that Tokio likes her but doesn't accept it or end it and just keeps using it to rope him into doing stuff with her, is at least getting addressed.
So great on that. Still don't like her.

Now commenting on the progression. If she doesn't have romantic feelings for Tokio, now that shes said it, they can still be friends, but the ball is now in Tokio's court. He he keeps pursuing romance, its now on him if nothing is reciprocated, unlike before where i was putting all the fault on Chita.
Now, some of you might say that she does love him, she just doesn't understand her feelings. While possible, I would hate that to be the case here. Thats some plain teen romance novel development. I'd rather see how the author deals with either Tokio having to accept he'll never quite get what he wants but can be as close to it as she allows, or even straight up rejection into an ugly possible breakup of their friendship.

I'd argue this even re-contextualizes Chiita treating Tokio the way you described.
It wasn't her just not answering him and using him/dragging him around to suit her needs - Chiita was hoping that she would just "grow to figure it out and feel love" the way she saw Anna and Toyo do it. She'd been dealing with this nagging feeling of "why am I not getting it like everyone else" for awhile, and kept hoping it was just a matter of "I'll wait and it'll happen for me too".

And it never did.

Now, you could say she should have not run away from the fear and worry as much, and that's fair. But we also can't be certain whether she tried to talk about this with anyone before; and what if she had, and was rebuffed or told "you'll get it one day", and that was that? So when "one day" doesn't come, she gets anxious, and hides in her comfort things and tries to just ignore the fear & uncertainty.
She is a teenager, and they're not always the bastions of doing the correct stuff for mental & emotional care and growth. If she's the outlier of everyone she knows when it comes to where she thinks she's "supposed" to be mentally, emotionally, physically, and so on, then she might feel she has no one to ask who would understand where she's coming from.
And that sense of isolation sucks for anyone, much less someone also dealing with puberty and all the rapid changes in life that happen during your teen years.

will actually love you as a person and not as a prop for clicks !!
She basically says in this chapter that she loves him as a person, so much so that she wants to learn more about the person he is now.

What she's twisted up about is that she feels she can't love him as a romantic partner, but that seems to be what the author is gonna be untangling. I wonder if the author will push on "not feeling jealousy", mostly 'cause I find that a weird thing to hinge it on given Chita's generally been the secure sort and Tokio's shown 0 interest in leaving her side.

My prediction:
2 chapters of Tokio trying to talk with the guys about what’s going on with Chita

2 chapters of Chita trying to talk with the girls about what’s going on with Tokio

4 chapters of Chita and Tokio unable to hang out like they used to

6 chapters of Chita telling Tokio she doesn’t deserve him

1 chapter rushing Chita and Tokio reconciling and just ending up friends

Then an indefinite hiatus.

We’re in the Bad Place
Stop accurately predicting a dark future.

Dead honest I would like to see Chita not resolve "successfully". I don't want her to decide its time to "grow up" or give things with Tokio a try or "we'll go at our pace".
I want to see her and Tokio remain friends, and I don't want some "I will remain in relationship that doesn't feel completely fulfilling to me, stuck in the freindzone forever because of sacrifice for love" or w/e we usually, I want to see Tokio move on, find a girlfriend, and still remain close friends with Chita who just doesn't feel physical attraction to Tokio. Like a cute class rep to be their cameraman.

That's 100% not what's going to happen. But it'd be nice to see a story that actually has that outcome.
