Well. "What is wrong with him?" besides him having a free will and he does not crush on her? Some guys are not into her kind. he is just not into her.. and that is ok.

but this manga NEEDS to speed it up. we all did wait too long. i do not want an ending that basically is a huge finger to the readers. "Oooh btw.. he didn't date anyone OR did he? that is up to you readers to figure out." that is a lazy ending if the author chooses that.

Back in the Heisei era we called that "being a cowardly harem protagonist like Rito in To-Love-Ru" not something to admire in an MC with a ton of hot girls chasing them.
What you said it's true and certainly this is done to milk this to death but I find interesting this being a case of an MC genuely not be interested and he just wants to be friends with everyone, normally it's just the guy is a pansy who can get his shit together for his love interest (even if Saotome is a little of a pansy with the "there is no way they like me" shit). I don't hate it as much, there is certainly things to be explored.

Ya'll are never beating the incel allegations LMAO

The chapter said the exact opposite, who thinks "nooooo the other girls would bully us if I got a girlfriend so I can't date anyone now (until the author says it's time to collect their last paycheck and wrap things up after they've milked the series as long as they can)" translates to "ugh fuck these evil bitches for teaching me how Women are really evil and manipulative. I should only hook up with pure angelic virgins like Kuzuhana."?

Like this would be something that got the Dude from Rent-a-Girlfriend crucified and called out as more evidence of milking the series for as long as possible.
Incel allegations? Nah these are incels, the harem genre attracts incels. They are projecting their own insecurities about women on to the story. Though honestly I’m tired of harems myself maybe 1 or 2 girls had a real chance but the rest of them are just to appeal to some subsection of readers fetish.

Though seriously this MC shouldn’t date anyone if his self-esteem is this low. Would probably piss off any girl trying to reassure him instead of building a healthy relationship.

Rereading like the first 10 chapters or so is a totally different manga. Saotome is very different, the whole school is very different. Takae doesn't seem scared of Hanako beating her up at all. Technically Takae apologizes for chapter 1 in chapter 4, she just then immediately tries to get money out of him again. Takae and Hanako help Saotome to save Ushigome. And then they both help him with the panties incident at the beach. Takae also helps Hanako in chapter 27 with her feeling at fault for what happened in middle school.

Like, they've been friends for over a year now. People really need to let the Takae hate go.

This feels like a case of the pot calling the kettle back. I mean this is a fictional harem Manga so it is as it is, but let's not pretend the girls weren't psychotic in the earliest chapters. It wasn't just bullying or teasing (which actually bullying is really bad by itself), but straight harassment and attempted blackmail and phsycial harm. I'm not sure the "definitely not an incel" response here is getting mad at the MC for not liking any of the girls (or understandably thinking they'd just tease him if he were to start a relationship). I mean in reality being the only boy at a school would make you feel on edge and very uncomfortable. I don't have that experience under my belt, but I am Black and have been in many situations where I'm the only Black person in a group or even event. You become keenly aware of being the only XYZ in any given setting. It's just difficult to relax and get comfortable among other things.

Personally, I've come to like this story best for the friendship between the characters. I'm a sucker for the feel good and do like how the MC has gotten so close to people that once genuinely hated him and people he was kinda scared of. I've also liked seeing him grow in his skills and gain more confidence in the very reason he's even at the school (his clothing skills).

I say just don't obsess over his relationship status either way. At this point I just want to see them become third years and graduate.

I actually consider it a sort of dynamic change I like to see in the stories. Both Hodaka and the girls meaningfully changed over the course of the story, even if Hodaka's changes were on a downward arc for quite a bit.

Still, I do not agree with Takae and Ushigome haters. These girls are both dumbasses who started this mess (alongside Nekomiya and Seira topping it off), but they also both did their best to try to fix it, even if they have messed things up even more in the process. They have been his enemies for like 2 weeks and his friends for over a year. They are absolutely still in the game, even if they keep on messing up. And they keep on messing up since they are two girls with no experience with boys trying to do their best, and in fact the two most proactive girls in the entire cast.

Wow. Next you'll be praising rapists and domestic abusers because they're 'proactive'.

What Takae did should have gotten her either expelled, or charged, or both.

Holly strawman, dude. Liking fuck ups trying their best to become better and fumbling along the way doesn't equate justifying abuse.

Also, yes, Takae and Ushigome are dumb fucks who broke several boundaries too many. They were straight up antagonists in the first few chapters, after all. It doesn't change the fact that they are still trying to do better and fix the mess they have started, even if they suck at that. Saotome had the full right to despise them back then and cut them off. Yet it's not the direction both him and the story took. At this point, both Takae and Ushigome have been his friends far longer than his enemies.

A smart guy that doesn't want to be baby trapped would reject her. Ushigome has already demonstrated she isn't concerned about small things like consent.
Please.....
A stranger just coming up and kissing you is one thing. A good friend that loves you and you care about kissing you to get their feelings across is another. Saotome appears to hold no grudge and is not traumatized by it. You should realize the world and human interactions are messy.

Honestly, people trying to treat Saotome as a perpetually traumatised victim are weird to me, because the story is actually very open about which situations fucked him up and which one were just confusing and unpleasant for him to go through. Like, the story is extremely blunt about how his issues, especially in the last chapters and how the bigger issues are his critically low self esteem, deep seated feeling that his friends would turn against him and his desensitisation to affection.

I mean, guy did in fact suffer a lot due to being caught up in the ecchi comedy antics and is showing signs of that. It's just that it's almost never what Takae and Ushigome's haters try to project onto him. Saotome doesn't hate them, he doesn't resent them for their actions and doesn't even consider them that bad by themselves. In fact, his biggest issue is how jaded he became as a result of dealing with these constant shenanigans.
