Well since no one else has commented on this, I will.
As a King, that hero really does suck. He not only failed to nurture goodwill and cooperation between the two groups, he also placed people who believed in white wing supremacy in positions close to him. Making them invigorated with the power they believe they held!
As a person though, I can like him. He tried doing the right thing naive as it might have been, while also recognizing that he himself could be influenced by those supremacy influences. He is not necessarily a fool, but he allowed himself to be overwhelmed by his position as a hero and then in turn a king.
