The ghost still broke the promise the promise wasnt to just stop the wife/harem bs it was to stop meddling and trying to manipulate him.
There was a huge chance that it wouldnt have worked out and made things worse like who is stupid enough to make that gamble

You can't blame MC for leaving like a coward that time? Lul. Also the plot is way too forced to make the bully girl regret it until this chapter. This doesn't happen in RL. They just forget it / shrug it off quickly and that's it. Author just creates forced drama.

These two chapters are merely to show MC development, nothing more
Still I guess everybody and me forgot that he has trauma to begin with, I read this for harem shenanigans

this is complete bullshit. Wouldn't happen with real bullying. Bully might regret it but the "victim" would not forgive suddenly. too forced.

so the "victim" is the one that feels sorry about all of this? , shouldnt it be the other way around?

@Zergio2000ism You're acting like the former bully didn't have a mental breakdown out of sheer guilt in front of the MC.

Reiji's apologizing because he could have handled the situation better that would have benefited the both of them better, even if the situation is ultimately her own fault. It's not too reasonable to have expected them to do that since he was a kid, but Reiji holds himself to a pretty high moral standard and assumed he was never wrong in the first place all of this time. Realizing that he was at least a little wrong prompted his apology.

I guess that she did had a mental breakdown in front of MC, and also went all of her life feeling guilty about what she did, but I simply can get around the MC apologizing as a former victim of bully myself. I guess it's a diference in mentality, as in my case I just tried to ignore it at the beginning 'till I snaped and beated up my bullies, wich caused most around in my school year to fear me. All of that is already in the past for me, being almost 24 y.o., but since my experiences I become uncapable of forgiving bulliers, feeling disgust and hate when I find out about a situation like this in news or internet.

In this particular case, the MC is not really to blame about anything (from my POV), and I don't understand why it's supposed to be wrong to call out someone when they are doing something wrong and also promting others to follow their example; is not like she would have hearded MC if he told her in private, when since the beggining was HER idea.

@Tyron
it wasn't much of a bullying yet
most of Reiji's anguish was from the realization that even his own friends can betray him - his words, "It was a shock. So terrifying. So disgusting."
sure, what everyone did hurt him, but ultimately, it was his thoughts that made him leave school early and skip school the following morning
also, him getting ostracized all happened within a day (talk about a snowflake)

it seemed to me that the perpetrator herself didn't matter much to him. it mattered more to him that he did something wrong when the whole time he thought he was in the right. he only apologized to her. he never explicitly forgave her.

Reiji just keeps getting dug deeper and deeper into holes he didn't want to dig but was forced to.

The king is probably gonna try and force him to marry his daughter should he find out the truth...

Reading this chapter: "This is not how you say sorry... Not that either... A bit closer... Ah, close enough: you actually needed an example!"

I think his apology wasn't bad, all things considered.
Unnecessary? Perhaps yes. I also think he did nothing wrong with calling out a bully in front of those who played along with her.
But there's one crucial thing to realize here: the apology was not especially important for the girl, but for himself. Some people have problems with self-worth and apologize for everything. But to most others, an apology can be hard, but ultimately liberating.
So if I look at a controversial situation, and find that I had even a slight chance of being in the wrong, I will apologize - it not only resolves the situation for the other party, but also for myself. And believe it or not, such an apology can be a show of strength, exactly because it is hard - it sometimes even leaves the other person speechless. :)

Arisu will probably end up in the harem, it's kinda alluded that her behavior was motivated by other things.

This kind of got me right in the feels. I also like how all the drama/trauma was introduced and concluded in like the spaced of 3 chapters.

Maybe some F/SN spoilers?

Reji reminds of Shirou. They aren't really alike or anything, but Reji seems kind of self-abasing like Shirou due to his past. To me it seems like Reji is being way too nice and he finds fault with himself even when he was the one who was wronged. He was the one who was wronged, yet he still apologizes to make Arisu feel better.

Reji seems "pathologically" nice (he's nice to the point where it seems like there is something wrong with him and he is doing harm to himself). It'd be kind of interesting if the author went somewhere with that. I think that is too much to hope for because this manga has already reached levels of waifu density I previously thought impossible from a harem manga.

The hell is he apologizing for, "not handling it correctly." You can say that about every student that was complacent. Reiji is so self-loathing.

Pretty plausible way to react if you've actually tried to think how Reiji had been feeling about himself.

@zerimas good comparison, Shirou's definitely a lot worse though I feel.

This was quite a nice development, I like it. Like Elton said, sorry seems to be the hardest word.
