Fair point. Hadn’t considered that but if the idiot god was actually watching his idiot through this process (and didn’t get bored partway through) then he now has a much better grasp on what Van can do and how to counter him next time.

Kaidou's ability only looks weak because Kaidou pissed away any advantage he could have had. His refusal to engage with the world of Lambda's rules and systems left him with no actual combat skills to fight with. His focus on his luxurious fourth life meant he would rush the mission and not prepare appropriately. His treatment of the people of Lambda ensured the vengeful spirits of his victims would tell Van who he is and what he can do.

If Kaidou had listened to Rodcorte and spent time familiarizing himself with the world, leveling up, developing skills and getting gear he could have been a legitimate threat. Attacks that phase through defenses and phasing through incoming attacks are tough to beat, especially since Van wouldn't have known how [Gungir] worked. I'm not saying Kaidou would have won, but he wouldn't have gone out like such a punk.
