I hope they(the US) are not fighting a civil war now.
They are moving toward a form of civil war provoked by the incompatibility of their economy with self-restraint forced by an internal event (COVID19) that is not only out of controls, but also incompatible with the relevant public services in place (the cost of health cares).
In other words, their economy which is based a
short-term, small risks profits model is extremely impacted by the pandemic which favours
long-term, high risks profits, Hence, while few businesses that have reached a state of all-around profitability, many are now unable to generate enough if any revenues, creating a increasing gap between the economics heights. Then, there's also the cost involved with the source of the pandemic as people getting sick also gets highly in debts over the costs of Hospital Cares (which range from 50K to 78K USD PER affected person.) This renew the issues of contagions where a certain cast of the economy will avoid being cared by an Hospital as they are within a financial situation that can't even think of a way of paying for that care.
The US was never prepared, both financially and socially, to a virus that can't be overcome by short-terms science since most of their ideology are based on a broken system that promote short-term efficiencies. For example, you can forget about anything that takes over 3 years because such project might take up to 1 years to be put in place, then only 3 years remains on the Presidential terms before a new one "might" take over and abolish said project (or take credits for it). Hence, while the US was "build" as a lasting nation, it wasn't "managed" as such.
