It's not that bad. It's literally the #1 thing to do during your lifetime in everyone's top 10 list. You don't get out of life without trying it out at least once.
Personally, I'm hooked on aging. Everyone says if you age, it's a slippery slope to trying death as well, but they're just a bunch of ol' scaredy-cat fuddy-duddies.

For my limited knowledge about deceased japanese authors, I would say that if the manga adaptation reaches the LN, there will no more manga. If the LN stopped because the author is dead, the manga will follow the same path. Unfortunately, if the LN/manga/whatever you want isn't popular as Naruto/One Piece/Demon Slayer, no one dares to write an end if the original author dies during the writing of his story. A famous example is Highschool of the Dead.
