For a simple "MC op banished manga" its doing a great job with its minor stories, family issues about the son's carreer choice is extremely common in japan and even tho it was solved in a cheap way the dialogue itself made up for it
Instead of wanting to use his swords which would be an easy way out we instead had him actively wanting to make his dad job better which is much more interesting
