Counterpoint... Vikings.Ahh yes, the hero is always surrounded by weak people that need his protection, even from bog standard bandits that should have normally be handled by the local vigilante group.
NGL, I'm tired of this stupid cliché. I get he was an overpowered coward who despised his fate, but that doesn't mean they would utterly ignore any sense of security. If nothing else his combat instructor wife and chronicly damsel in distress sister would have trained a few villagers to act as competent guards for the village.
Instead fate demands that some poor sod must be consistently tormented till driven to become an insane murderhobo hellbent on the destruction of [insert noble cause here].
right? why can't that trial be about the MC's development instead? why would it be with the assur guy. It could have been a trial of testing the MC's intellect or resolve to make him undergo a gruesome trial over and over again until he beats it. Like those slow time training facilites in Cultivation manhua's and manhwa's.the nobody sword saint have more char development than the mc
Yeah, you'd kinda think that if he has such a talent he would use it to protect his loved ones, like he did as a kid. But nah, as an adult he decided to just throw it away for a time and then reality came biting back at him.Ahh yes, the hero is always surrounded by weak people that need his protection, even from bog standard bandits that should have normally be handled by the local vigilante group.

you've got a point. I forgot that Mio was his master and she legitimately lost to some bandits for some reason. it seems like there wasn't even a time skip for her to be bodied because of age and unless she's secretly pregnant, there's no reason for her to lose.Ahh yes, the hero is always surrounded by weak people that need his protection, even from bog standard bandits that should have normally be handled by the local vigilante group.

But page 14 heavily implies his wife was pregnant. But that is seriously beside the point. While true there is an indeterminate ammount of time between them swearing off actively fighting and the bandit raid, it is utterly asinine to settle in a community infested with brigades and then leave your pregnant wife at home next to defenseless.you've got a point. it's like you're expecting me to believe the sword saint can use a makeshift sword but the master can't because of some dumb promise.
This could have been like in Shang-Chi, while pregnant (or protecting a kid she hid nearby) she took on several of these bandits, and was taken down with numbers, these two just being left behind to finish them off while the rest spread through the village. But page 14 heavily implies his wife was pregnant. Yes I know that shit happens and unexpected adversaries can come calling. But, and it's a big one, they should have known that and planned for those eventuallies. A retired sword saint and the cowardly hero as teachers would have turned the sleepy little village into a nest of monsters.
