I've heard Japanese schools are exactly like portrayed in manga. If you take away all named characters and anyone who actually does something interesting, and replace them with characters who only appear in the background and follow the script of society.

Also real teens are goofy-lookin and kinda awkward. But that’s universal, not just Japan
