brutal, she's destructive but she never knew anything else so it's tough to be surprised by the outcome. Rest of the group would be justified in being mad at her but Chiyoko doesn't seem like the type to push someone she considered a friend away, even if that friend tried to hurt her (she wouldn't be a slave to two different girls if that wasn't the case at least lol)

godspeed you messy girls, hope the ensuing talk doesn't destroy all of you

thanks for the chapter! Two back-to-back is always a fun time

I'm tired boss. I think I'm growing out of certain kinds of media because this is just total BS to me. Shes terrible, she has a bad homelife, and eventually we're supposed to forgive and be friends like nothing happened.

Man, even if her life was awful it was still no excuse to ruin the life of literally the only girl who liked her.

I have no idea if she will have some kind of redepmtion arc, or will she join Chiyo's harem as punishment. But it will be interesting to follow and see.

Maybe Chiyo will use her as a bottom for practice. :meguusmug:

Something being explainable and understandable doesn't mean the story is trying to justify it.

Whether or not Sakine forgives Hibiki is her prerogative. Sakine being head over heels for Chiyoko....well, the whole thing is kinda tangled up, which is the draw, of course.

Interesting that Sakine has two people after her, with only one (third) person in her sights. Chiyoko being the "lens" character of the series, and not having every girl (currently) after her, is the intriguing bit to me. The triangle of Chiyoko->Mafuyu / Mafuyu->Sakine / Sakine->Chiyoko is simple enough, but throwing Hibiki into the mix who's after Sakine and has always been hellbent on "exposing" what she believed to be the lie of love, is what throws it all into chaos and pushes the obvious/"formulaic" solutions out the window--even with there being 4 characters for the conventional pair-up ending.

Sakine has every reason to hate Hibiki. I try not to throw that word around too much, but Hibiki ruined her life, meant to do it, and then blamed Sakine for not "keeping to her word". She's even given up on any sort of "good ending" for herself here, and I kinda wonder whether the author's going to give it to us, as--realistically--I could see Chiyoko trying to remain friends with her, with Mafuyu simply not caring and Sakine wanting to write Hibiki out of her life. Anything that sees a mending of Hibiki & Sakine's relationship would take dozens of chapters of effort, or it would look cheap and contrived, and even then I wouldn't believe it.

It makes any "happy ending" for Hibiki hard to guess at. And in a way, a "happy ending" might be her confessing her sins and then serving penance by disappearing. Which, sounds bad, but Hibiki has to unlearn and then re-develop most of her life's worth of emotional growth and regulation. She's deeply troubled, in a way that a couple high school girls isn't going to magically solve. She recognizes it and is no longer running from it, and that's the first step, but....yeah.

Very dramatic, very toxic, not exactly novel, but I dig the interpersonal stuff like this when it can be viewed from a distance, and I do like seeing how authors nagivate these sorts of scenarios. So I'm most looking forward to how it shakes out, and whether Hibiki finds peace, and what that might look like.

Thanks for the TL.

The girl is indeed a terrible person perpetuating the cycle of abuse but I hope that it really was the much needed wake-up call for her. I understand if others wouldn't accept her and forgive but it's good that she the has a resolve to change.

You better treat Chiyoko with respect if she decides to keep being your friend because genuinely compassionate people are hard to find.

I think it's tough in a case like this where they are so young. I started reading stories like this when I was a younger, and I had a lot less sympathy for them. In hindsight, I was projecting my traumas into fictional anime teenagers. I've grown a little and have worked really hard to turn away from toxic behaviours. It's easy to say that they should've just communicated or at the very least stayed away from drastic actions, but when you grow up only knowing escalation, it's hard to fathom that you don't need to make a situation worse.

I still think the story's gonna let her off too easy. People irl are way more willing to cut you off than in these stories. These stories are wish fulfillment at the end of the day. Toxic romance is catered towards the "I can fix them" crowd, so it's not really safisfying to have characters justifiably go no contact with a toxic person- even a toxic person who's learning not to be.

All in all, can't really be too disappointed when the title's "My Yuri Started With Slavery." I wasn't really expecting nuanced, realistic characters

All in all, the first step towards improvement of the self is the realization of your flaws, in that regard Shinnope is already at the starting line and, if the author actually wants to, should start taking the first steps in the next few chapters

Alright here me out. She's a bad person, but she could be a better person so she doesn't hurt anyone else in the future. And the only way to rehab people like this is to show them by example and hold them to the straight and narrow.

Sakine doesn't have to forgive her. That's between them, not us. What matter is how she grows or doesn't grow as a person. Casting her aside for a mistake, a big big big one, when she was like 13 is not the correct choice to make if you want to live in a functional society. Rehabilitate her or your part of the problem too. Isolating her and leaving her to her bad choices only creates more victims of abuse in the future.

The cycle of abuse and broken people from broken homes ends with us as a community learning them some manners. And if you think she can't be redeemed for something she did as a 13 year old, you're being unreasonable. Furthermore, it's still up to sakine whether she forgives her. Abandoning a child to bad behavior does nothing good for our world.

All that said, it doesn't make outing her girlfriend any less disgusting.

I think this is her attempt to make good. I don’t exactly know what her plan is, or where she wants this all to head, but it definitely doesn’t seem to be in a direction that she has pushed people in the past. And her self-awareness about her actions seems to be pushing it from a self-destructive/martyrdom place that makes me believe it is ultimately not to her benefit.
