I just went back through the 1st chapter and while I didn't see the age listed (though in fairness it's late and I'm tired and easily could've missed it) when she talks about staying for the summer the MC says "a high schooler's summer". I assume that means she's not a middle schooler anymore.

It doesn't give his age (the only character profile I've seen is from the last chapter for the cafe girl), but he is supposed to be a college student. So I'm thinking that the characters just look/sorta act younger than they are because manga.

He already graduated from high school (her brother is his classmate and he is college student now) and from previous chapters looks like they have not a big age gap (when he was in high school, she was in middle), so I think now she in high school year one

"I am just collateral for a debt"

Ouch. Don't be so harsh on yourself, girl. Not a good time for Akari to be suffering from critically low self-esteem. Especially not when it turns out, Yua is a serious rival.

She clearly has a thing for Motomu, and his denseness could be the only thing standing in the way. Her statement on pg. 12 that her teasing normally makes him blush, plus that look on his face on pg. 26 after hearing that she's jealous says a lot. Yua may not be the title girl, but I think she's got a shot at him, she feels like a credible contender to me.

I might be rooting for Akari, but I'd be lying if I said Yua is unlikable. The two rivals meeting next chapter should be interesting.

So how old is the sister? I keep thinking she's like middle school age.
If she's in high school which I think she is, she'd be around 16-18. She seems a little short, but I just consider her a shortstack.

I kinda find this ideology that you must absolutely never waste food to be kind of ridiculous. I get that back in the day when food was a scarcity you would think like this, but I feel like that mentality has been passed down to the modern day through the generations with no regard for any practical considerations, and nowadays it's just mindless tradition. Like, ok, you wanna show respect for people who make the food and produce the ingredients, but do those people really demand that you overeat and suffer? I agree that you shouldn't take more than you intend to eat when you have the option of choosing your portion size, but when you don't, there's no reason to force yourself. And I mean, even when you can choose your portion size like in restaurants with buffets, the food nobody eats gets thrown away anyway, even if nobody plated it, and raw ingredients that aren't used for cooking also get thrown away. Grocery stores and bakeries throw away tons and tons of unsold products. So it's not like that food gets used for anything else even if you don't eat it. And you would think the people who make the food would want their customers to like, enjoy the food, rather than stuff themselves beyond what they actually want to eat in order to satisfy some social norm. Also, overeating is bad for your health. Blatantly plating tons of food and then throwing away 50% is kinda rude, yeah, but I really don't think you should feel bad for leaving food if you accidentally plated too much, or if you don't want to finish the whole portion size the restaurant decided for you.
