This blade breaking thing shows up all the time and it's dramatic and all, but most of the time I just find it undermines the characters' strengths, since it boils it down to the equipment they use. Sometimes, like here, it's explicitly about how much power they can channel into the weapons, but usually it's just about who's got the better equipment. And for this case in particular, I think it'd be better to put that exposition before the fact rather than after.

Him turning into a sword kind of undermines everything they've said about spears vs swords. And really? That version of the name is the real one?
At least they didn't drag that part out more as well. But with the sword, the dragon, and that name, it feels underwhelming compared to how it's been before.
