Having its true form be a sword kind of undercuts all the training that focused on wielding a spear. Also the bit about a sword being the weapon of a Brave.
Spears are cooler than swords

Yukina's friend, the brave (the other guy), his sword's true form is a spear, opposite of Yukina's spear to sword :v

You'll see that later on (or from the raws on rawkuma)

It's fucking silly

So all this time, mc has been training and learning to use the spear well (particularly a wonky spear called gram that can alter its weight). ...And then he powers up by suddenly having to awkwardly fight with a sword instead?

Eh, the sword could just be a special move instead of an actual weapon moveset. It’s size makes it more of a “single strong blow” that requires only basic technique to use effectively, while the spear is the normal form

This blade breaking thing shows up all the time and it's dramatic and all, but most of the time I just find it undermines the characters' strengths, since it boils it down to the equipment they use. Sometimes, like here, it's explicitly about how much power they can channel into the weapons, but usually it's just about who's got the better equipment. And for this case in particular, I think it'd be better to put that exposition before the fact rather than after.

So he's a bit more pissed than he looked.

Fafnir is a name to know. But not the best dragon to use against a weapon called Gram.

Wifes cheerleader power GO! But it also shows that he's mostly fighting alone for pride.

Him turning into a sword kind of undermines everything they've said about spears vs swords. And really? That version of the name is the real one?

At least they didn't drag that part out more as well. But with the sword, the dragon, and that name, it feels underwhelming compared to how it's been before.
