1) It is stated in this chapter that she indeed died, and their bodies were never recovered for their funeral. Now that might that she is just presumed dead, but...

2) In the LN, Ceres only has 7 mortal wives, with the 8th and final wife being the creation goddess herself, and shortly after she announces her marrying him, he ascends to godhood with his 7 wives.
