Wow. Leaving a woman to die while you run for your piss-covered life. That's a new, low bar set for all asshole "heroes". What's next? Actively killing party members themselves?

@Vasqueztion i mean....Kaifuku basically has one of the worst treatment of heroes where he was used as a pocket medic, dog, and raging pedo sex slave

"It's time to use you again"
Narcissistic logic (if I'm not wrong) at it finest, after all, not him but you're the one can't do anything without Arga, "hero" (more like a big zero), you better dissappear since false hero have no place in this world

@firosahoge I think in the beginning of the story they said the MC and the "Hero" were identical twins, with the only difference being the crests they received at birth.

I really hope that, one day, these ""isekai"" authors will stop using the "asshole Hero" trope. It's a trope that only causes friction in the story, without really any substantial purpose.
Well, other than to piss off the audience. The comments below me show just how well it works, sadly enough.

@Solipsist : first this is not an isekai, the term REQUIRES some form of traverse between worlds, if you are going to complain about a genre at least learn what the genre is.

Second the target audience is male Japanese young adult otakus, not americans or any other nationality. It is a very specific group, with specific tastes.

The trope does not only cause friction, and does serve a purpose and add to a story. Though, like everything it depends on how well it is used. Which relies on several factors like implementation, and the nature of the story they want fo tell. Here is it the key component to the MC's lack of self confidence, and helps explain why someone so strong is not in the line light despite major accomplishments (the hero stole his glory, and took credit for everything).

As well the jerk hero trope fits perfectly with as an analogue for the low social status relative to the jocks, charismatic ladies men, etc that the audience in general has experiences with, so they get a dor of catharsis from seeing the people society values more them themselves getting knocked down and destroyed.

@hrs6gm : unless it was changed from the webnovel (which happens all the time due to Japanese webnovels not having editors), he will meet karmic justice..
there while fleeing the destruction, he stumbled on a bandit village, was trivially captured and auctioned of as a slave, for a very small price as no one believed he was a hero for several factors.

@Vasqueztion : I have seen at least one series where the hero put a curse on the MC to weaken and slowly kill him before giving him the boot, and worse in some webnovel.
