You know, I happened to experience the very same thing they did to Rain as a victim. The only words which came out of my mouth to those people are "GO F*CK YOURSELVES TO HELL"
Everyone remember that the "hero" party are a group of idiot muscle heads valuing membership on direct combat ability only, and likely to much pride to admit any mistakes.
That Rain is a got tier support member is not "good enough", "usable" or "valuable" to them because it does not do anything in the immediate fight.
That move he pulled on the bandit lair, the one that neutralized all the bandits inside and could be used to take down fortresses trivially, not good enough for them
IIRC in the WN he even said he had suggested such a move before and it was rejected
But this chapter they are beyond moronic. They have come face to face with a gap in their abilities, a gap that could easily becomes an issue again in their future and potentially prove an insurmountable obstacle if not compensated for or changes to make to cover it, and they solution it to use and discard the one guy they know can cover that gap which would almost guarantee that he will not work with them again, and even if he would would likely not be any where near close enough to help the next time it comes up. IF the demon lord/king/emperor/whatever has any intilligence then they would havce spies keeping tabs on the "Hero" party who would see this and report on how the "Hero" had booted the MC failed in the forest then re-recruited Mc to handle that quest only to boot him again, which would then have the Demon side (if once again they are not idiots) implement defenses based on the nature of that forest since it would mean that the hero party could not touch them. Heck the forest is an easy version of this type of labyrinth, imagine if it was a) deep underground and b) prevented retreating as well as progressing. You could easily end up with them getting trapped and starve to death.
It comes from a special ability that the "hero" possesses. Those who possesses it can call themselves heroes. That ability is not having a limit on their growth.
Rains ability to make contracts with the superior races IIRC has the same result, since he gets stronger the more of them he makes contracts with/adds to his eventual harem
, in this case since the item they are after is "necessary" for the "Hero"'s quest Rain will help them.
But he does not join them to get booted again and instead IIRC goes through the forest on his own, making a contract with the forests guardians who are responsible for the maze like effect, comes back and gives them the item the are after. Then goes off and does a better job of being a Hero to the people.
IIRC (its been a year) he also gets into a fight with the hero and soundly beats him, either before or right after getting the item they are after. The one contract he has right now (next is Dragon girl who grants him a boost in Magic abilities IIRC) is enough to make him more valuable then the other non-hero party members, and the "Hero" is only because of the "Hero"'s absurd growth potential.
@sjmcc13
doesnt change that i strongly suspect that the mc wont have the backbone to decline
which leaves only one recourse.... they enter the forest with the mc as a guide encounter a strong monster and try to sacrifice the mc who turns around and runs with kanade or tames the encounter because that was a beastgirl and rescues kanade
@oake
lets be honest even if he declines initially he will go because if some demented reason or another they will kidnap kanade
so he will be going either way
and kanade will also be harrassed if he joins voluntary
only way to stop that would be take out the heroes stealthily but the mc is japanese not chinese so no dice
He will get the item for them, but only because the item is considered necessary for the Hero's quest and humanities survival.
He will flat out turn down the offer to re-join, and gets in a fight with the hero that Rain wins one-sidedly.
Also IIRC there are no monsters in the forest, it is just an illusion trap maintained by (I think) 2 members of one of the various strongest species.
@Vasqueztion : Whenever I see heroes like this I remember a novel I read years ago. HERE is a link to it on Amazon. One of the characters refers to himself as a hero, then eventually explains why that doe snot line up with our pop cultural view. Simply put because for him and his time it is about results not character. Modern fiction is about character and that enabling the results, but almost every where else in history is is purely about results. A War-hero is a hero because of his accomplishments, not because he is a pure soul.
@sjmcc13
thanks for the spoiler finaly something that sounds like its going down a different path from the usual copy&paste plots
well for that the mc would also need to refrain from picking up his next girl in the forrest and just stick with this one for at least one arc
also if the hero is already weaker than the mc how the hell is he supposed to save humanity
which is a job thats going to be outsourced to the mc anyway because he is the mc
so he should have just kept the item
edit: "a warhero is a hero because of accomplishments, not necessarily because he is a pure soul"
would be my suggestion ever since i knew about Corporal Leslie "Bull" Allen
I love all of you who are giving spoilers, its quite exciting to see all of this gonna happen soon, thanks.
P.S. this is not sarcasm, i am genuinely thanking you
I just cant handle these one-dimensional characters.
"He was worthless but had a purpose"
How does that indicate hes worthless if he had a purpose. He literally was their free guide but they threw him away for some dumbass excuses.
Get him back and then ditch him again. How much more of an asshole does this author want with them? There's just no substance behind their actions. Just assholes because they're assholes. They're literally background characters at this point as comedic effect.
hero or not, trash should be burn by the fire of sauron, or of hell, or whatever it is I just need a really violent fire to burn these human shape trash
