Well she could be the first hero, or Hades, or that demon lord who tried to fight humankind... Or maybe the offspring of the first hero with Hades? I mean, npc said Hades was the closest to Hikari (1st hero). Who knows.

I was expecting his mom or ancestor to be the first hero since "she" disappeared. Maybe this girl is the first hero, or related to her. That would make her his aunt or sister or something?

EDIT: Checked out the manga raws, so kind of know the background and who most are now. I heard the WN has 650+ chapters or something, so might check that out next.

@typeOU Well they can return them in a year...

But it is a pretty fucked up ritual they have going. Ripping people out of their homes for their own selfish reasons, which will obviously leave their friends, family and loved ones thinking they got killed/kidnapped/died/ran away from them/etc. This is pretty bad, but I've yet to read a manga that even explored the idea that the persons family and loved ones would kind of be devestated by them vanishing.

Especially the average parents. They'd freak the fuck out.

@beepboop1 Well, that's assuming that they can't return them to the same time and place - if you can summon folks from a different universe, time and space shouldn't be much of a leap of imagination.

@MonsieurQuack True but at the same time it's not like they explore that idea either.

Then again tons of isekai is reincarnation into an already adult body so its more like transference. Probably mistranslation I'd imagine.

Seems like the prologue for a villain to me.

Other than that, the whole premise sounds really weird to me. I dont know why but everything sounds really stupid even more so than typical isekai. I just cant see the story going anywhere without the MC ended up becoming the villain or something.

A country that celebrates a national holiday every 10 years by abducting a random guy, lock him up for a full year as they parade him around, and the forcefully returns him regardless of his own wishes? Not to bash on anothers culture, but this sounds about as mean as human sacrifices, except just way way more likely to blow up in their face (if they parade him, he is not quite exactly a prisoner, but rather someone they want to follow a script). And that is even before considering the guy somehow gaining powers enough to actually fight back.

So they summon a hero for the sole purpose of having him around for a festival? That might be the dumbest reason to sommon someone from their life. Unless the story has the 'time moves differently trope' these kids are going to be seperated from their family and for a whole year, they would be worried sick, and when they return they will have to readjust to living in a world without magic and demons etc. Let alone if they tell anyone where they were, they would all be locked up inside a mental asylum.

It's kind of hard to consider these people good people when their reason for summoning them was so lame.

Literally kidnapping someone (and some bystanders) to make them star in a fucking festival and stranding them on their world for a fucking year. This wouldn't be a huge issue if they could have sent them back as soon as they were done immediately, it would still be an issue, but a far more minor one.

If anything bad comes from this they fucking deserve everything they get, tempting fate for a stupid-ass festival.

On that note, this would have been a very interesting series if the MC was just a bit more morally dubious, ambitious and had a different attitude about all of this. It would have been amusing watching a guy they mistakenly summoned becoming a new super powerful tyrant, all because these people couldn't think with their heads about why summoning people from another world might be wrong.

Something's definitely up with the Duchess. Why was she explaining to the extras, and not the Hero? She was responsible for the summoning, yet delegated to menial tasks? Why was the Hero even separated, why not explain to all of them? Unless they have something to hide. Also, no males whatsoever? Not even family? BS. Also, weird reaction to the maid being flustered and messing up, if male visitors are so uncommon. The whole [Shadow] and [Insect] talk is very suspicious as well.
